The Star Wars saga is pretty perfect just the way it is, and perhaps no die-hard fan would argue otherwise. But what if things didn’t end the way they did? What if some characters faced wildly different ends than what was originally penned down for them, like Anakin Skywalker, for instance? Well, one game on the lore seems to set that perfect alternate ending for Darth Vader.
This game is none other than the Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith video game, which quite literally has an alternate point of view to Anakin’s fate at the end of this story. As opposed to the one seen in the movies, this one sees Vader go full-blown evil and kill Obi-Wan Kenobi instead of letting him leave him on the lava shore, and fans just seem to love it.
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Game Has a Different End for Anakin Skywalker
As fans already know, in the original storyline shown in the 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi leaves Hayden Christensen‘s Anakin Skywalker on the lave shore to suffer for one too many reasons, instead of acting like a true Jedi and putting him out of his misery.
However, the video game version of the same sets a different destiny for both of these characters. While it shows Anakin standing on the platform sinking in the lava as Obi-Wan stands on the high ground and claims that “it’s over,” what comes next is unlike anything that happened originally.
As was seen in the clip shared by @StarWars0nly on X, instead of giving up, Darth Vader says, “You underestimate the Dark Side of the Force,” before leaping to the higher ground where Obi-Wan is standing and landing behind him as he tries to strike him with his weapon.
In the STAR WARS 'REVENGE OF THE SITH' video game there's an alternative ending which shows Anakin killing Obi-Wan!

What came next was nothing short of Vader in a full-blown evil mode that fans must have never seen before. Before Obi-Wan is even able to turn around and land a blow on him, Anakin pierces his lightsaber into his opponent’s chest from behind him, killing him there and then.
Yet, even that wasn’t all. Making this all the more excruciatingly brutal for his now-dead former companion, Anakin then abandons his body and cruelly kicks him so that he rolls down the higher ground and closer to the lava shore, which is pretty much the opposite of what actually happened.
This alternate ending happens in the video game after the player beats the campaign, with this level letting the gamer play as Vader instead of as the original story version of Obi-Wan. But that’s not all, because Vader further goes on to kill even Sidious, becoming the new Empire.
Needless to say, despite being the complete opposite of the ends that Christensen’s Darth Vader and Ewan McGregor‘s Obi-Wan Kenobi faced in the 2005 fan-favorite movie, fans seem to love this alternate ending, claiming it allows them to explore multiple versions of what could have happened.
Fans are Now Claiming Revenge of the Sith Was a “Great Game”
As fans must have already understood, the Revenge of the Sith video game had an alternate ending for gamers to explore all the possibilities they had for the game to end while playing. This is one of the many reasons why they feel this particular video game was actually one of the best ones.
Calling these “interesting alternate endings” and claiming this was a “great game,” here’s what fans are saying on X:
And then he overthrows the Emperor afterwards. Very interesting alternate ending.

This leaves out the part where Palpatine gives him a new lightsaber, and then Anakin immediately stabs him with it lol

Completed it the other day such an underrated game it was ahead of its time

Then he kills Sidious, and is Emperor. I played both endings. This game was a lot of fun

this is what i love about games sometimes, most games are not afraid to show you what happens if you do fail, splatoon 2: octo expansion and splatoon 3's story mode do the exact same, and its kinda scary, cause you just sit there helplessly like, "this happened because I failed."

Unarguably enough, this ending is most certainly a lot more interesting than the original one that brought nearly the entire Star Wars fandom to tears. Perhaps the franchise should opt for more such alternate endings for their video games!
