Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 is live and has already received some changes. The patch notes fixed some bugs and made other small improvements but also brought a twist to one of the best weapons for Warzone.
The new update brought an unneeded and surprising nerf to the DG-58 LSW LMG rifle. This has been a go-to-long-range weapon for quite some time for players thanks to its damage output and long range, but the meta is about to change, as the best weapon has been butchered to near uselessness.
Call of Duty: Warzone DG-58 Nerf Changes the Meta
The DG-58 LSW was a supreme rifle for long-range battles in Warzone all thanks to its high accuracy and damage. This light machine gun allowed map dominance with its laser-like precision from afar.
However, a recent update saw Raven Software take aim at this dominance. The nerf reduced long-range abilities and its damage output. The minimum damage of the LMG dropped from 27 to 22, and the maximum damage range shrunk significantly, from 29.21 meters to a mere 17.78 meters. Other notable reductions include:
- Near-mid damage set to 27
- Near-mid damage range set to 30.48 meters.
- Mid-damage set to 25
- Mid-damage range set to 45.72 meters.
In the patch notes, Raven Software also explained the reasons behind the change: “The DG-58 LSW was a bit too dominant at range, so we have introduced a gradual damage falloff which keeps it competitive at those close-mid encounters, but now falls off slightly as you approach those long range fights.”
However, this nerf has been all bad news for players and has sent shockwaves through the Warzone community. Many have expressed their rage through social media.
Player Frustration Over the Change is Palpable Like Verdansk’s Fog
Players are frustrated with the change and they are all coming together to say the same thing. They are discontent and change wasn’t needed.
Some players question the approach the developer has towards the game, asking why it can’t nerf guns to make it balanced instead of useless.
Nerfing weapons into oblivion is not the answer, instead, players want to see buffs to underperforming guns. Moreover, some players have argued that the nerf in question is against the core function of the DG-58 as an LMG.
Anyway, be that as it may, the overall feeling is one of disappointment and that the chasm between developers and the community is growing deeper with every ‘minor’ update that Raven Software pushes out for Warzone and Call of Duty overall.
One of the comments confirms it saying that they “Can’t even fill a lobby at the moment and they are nerfing good guns…” Players have already found a new weapon that will replace DG-58 and it seems it is Holger 26.
