In the latest One Piece chapter, Vegapunk revealed that Joy Boy had meant to pass down the Ancient Weapons to the next generation. He also added that because of this reason, he could no longer tell if Joy Boy was a good or bad entity.
Afterall, why would anyone in their right mind want to pass down deadly weapons unless they want to continue the trend of violence? Yet, a theory states that Joy Boy’s intentions were the exact opposite.
Why did Joy Boy Want to Pass Down the Ancient Weapons?
Any kind of machinery is a tool with no good or evil intentions. The Ancient Weapons are feared because they are in the hands of an exploitative and oppressive World Government. However, in the hands of those who want to protect the world, they could turn into something else altogether.
In order to understand that the Ancient Weapons are not just destructive, let’s take a look at them in detail. Shirahoshi, better known as Cry-hoshi, is the Ancient Weapon Poseidon who can summon Sea Kings and make them do her bidding.
The very first Ancient Weapon that was introduced in One Piece is Pluton. Crocodile was searching for it during the Arabasta Saga, but failed to acquire it. It has been mentioned that Pluto is a giant warship that can vaporize an entire island in a single shot.
Last but not least is Uranus, which is most probably in the possession of the World Government and was used to destroy Lulusia. It was powered by the piece of Mother Flame stolen by York. By this account, the Ancient Weapons do seem like senseless weapons of murder.
But what if they were never meant to cause harm? What if Joy Boy wanted to pass them down because of their potential to make the world a better place? What if Joy Boy knew that the need for these weapons would arise again if the world was gulped by terror and corruption?
Can the Ancient Weapons be Used for Good in One Piece?
The time when the Ancient Weapons were created was supposedly an era of great achievements. These Ancient Weapons might have purposes other than destruction. Think of Shirahoshi, do you really think she would consent to be a part of destruction?
Her powers might be scary but that is only because they are looked at through the perspective of the World Government’s terror. Her powers are not evil by origin. The Sea Kings could also be used to help humans prosper. If Shirahoshi can control them, innocent lives will no longer be lost to the humongous monsters.
Pluton is connected to Zunesha and is said to have enough power to destroy an island with a single shot. But what if it’s powers could be used for allocation of land as well? Zunesha was originally responsible for moving huge mechanisms, so it all pieces up and hints at the fact that with Pluton’s help, the world could be saved from another great flood.
On the other hand, Momonosuke is the only individual who can communicate with Zunesha. If the power to control Pluton lies within Monomosuke then there is definitely less danger of a disaster.
The only one that is still unclear is Uranus. The series has not revealed much about it yet, other than the fact that it destroyed Lulusia. But one thing is apparent, all these weapons together might be able to aid Luffy’s cause and reshape the world towards prosperity.
