David Jaffe, the mind behind the iconic God of War series, has once again found himself in hot water due to some out-of-touch tweets.
This time, it’s for his comments on the allegations against popular streamer Dr Disrespect, also known as Doc. Doc was permanently banned from Twitch in June 2020. The exact reasons for his ban were never publicly disclosed until yesterday.
God of War’s David Jaffe’s Latest Tweet Is Plain Unfunny
After Doc’s abrupt ban in 2020, some whispers suggested that it might have involved serious allegations, though nothing concrete was ever confirmed. Given the sensitive nature of these speculations, one would expect public figures, especially those who were once renowned in the gaming industry, to tread carefully when discussing them. But David Jaffe, known for his outspoken and often controversial demeanor, decided to take a different route.
On X, Jaffe posted two tweets that many saw as making light of the allegations against Doc. He made a sarcastic joke about perceiving the word minor as miner, and taking the Doctor moniker seriously.
Ok so #1: there should be nothing illegal about sexting a miner. Those folks work their asses off in very dangerous conditions and if they can get a signal down there- and don't mind intimate photos while on the job- I say fuck it! I wouldn't have the guts to do what they do and…

In a now-deleted tweet, a fan responded by saying “Don’t see how someone can come back from this”.
What is there to come back from? I stand by what I said.

Jaffe has always been a figure who tries to get people riled up with his humor and statements. His edgy style has sometimes been seen as refreshing for a few, but most of the other times, it has come across as tone-deaf and inappropriate. This latest instance seems to fall into the latter category.

The tweets quickly garnered attention, but not in a good way. Fans and followers took to the replies to express their disappointment at the immature joke. Many felt that Jaffe’s comments were in poor taste, given the serious nature of the allegations and the lack of clarity around them. Fan sentiment was along the lines of Jaffe being way too old to be making jokes like this.
This Isn’t the First Time Jaffe Has Said Something Tone Deaf
Although he was a big name in the gaming industry once upon a time, his reputation has been tarnished by a long history of controversial statements and online behavior. He has a history of controversial statements and actions, and this incident just adds to that list.
He also has a reputation for making provocative statements and attempting to court attention with edgy humor and has often been called out by other professionals in the industry.

In December of last year, the current creative lead of the rebooted God of War series, Cory Balrog, disagreed with Jaffe’s remarks about Kratos not being manly anymore in the newer games. Jaffe said that the current developers behind the game have put too much of their personal thoughts and feelings into the character of Kratos, making him too human and that he wasn’t a fan of the current direction. This, obviously, wasn’t received well by most of the fans.
He has a history of tweeting weird things and making brash statements just to garner attention toward himself, and it’s a disappointing turn for someone who was once a well-respected industry professional.
