NVIDIA has recently surpassed Microsoft in terms of market valuation to become the richest company in the world. This achievement came just less than two weeks after the chip-designing and artificial intelligence juggernaut beat another tech giant, Apple.
After becoming the most valuable company in the world, the CEO of the company, Jensen Huang, has hinted that the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in the gaming world is huge. And it seems this popular tech company is exactly discovering its potential right now.
NVIDIA CEO Hints AI’s Entry into the Gaming World
AI is the most talked-about aspect of the world right now. This scientific boon is doing wonders nowadays. So, its entry into the world of gaming is unavoidable as well. In a recent interview with VideoCardz.com, Huang has exactly claimed that. Upon being asked about the capability of AI to generate frames in games, the CEO stated the company has already been using AI for neural graphics.
He also responded positively, as he stated that pixels can be generated with the help of a few input pixels. Right now, the company is generating frames between frames—yes, real generation, not interpolation. In the future, the company is looking to go beyond just frame generation with AI, like generating textures and objects. Another useful aspect of AI in gaming is that, with this technology, lower-quality objects can be made to look better. In Huang’s words:
“The games will be made with AI; they will have AI inside, and you’ll even have the PC become AI using G-Assist. You can use the PC as an AI assistant to help you game.”
Talking about character generation, Huang has stated that in the future they will look into it. Suppose there are six characters; two may be real ones, and the rest will be AI-generated. This AI-powered technology is known as ACE. With ACE, digital humans can be created as NPCs in games that can talk to gamers as well through generative AI.
How Will AI Be Implemented at NVIDIA?
Right now, NVIDIA has a technology called RTX Remix. With this ultra-futuristic technology, you can remaster older titles just by patching them to some NVIDIA tools, which will enhance the texture resolutions, object mashes, lighting, shadows, anti-aliasing, and many more to give the game a completely new look.
Not only that, RTX Remix later on adds ray or path tracing to the remastered title through this technology. However, this modding or remastering process is not done in real life or automatically. To implement the whole technology, you have to download the RTX Remix software and will also need your constant manual approach at every step, along with the creation of a special library.
However, Jansen has suggested that in the future, the whole lengthy and manual process of RTX Remix can be done through AI. That means players won’t need to work on the modding project all by themselves, as the whole process will be done by AI, that too in real life, at that certain moment, without any pre-existing library.
