Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, the largest tech event, kicked off in Las Vegas with the announcement of some exciting products for PC players, and there’s never been a better time to be a gamer. The graphics card is one of the most important pieces of hardware that players spend quite some time finalizing, and CES 2024 has brought them aplenty.
Two of the most popular names in the graphics card department, AMD and Nvidia, have been competing with each other, and both have announced their new graphics cards at the tech event. Gamers are thrilled to hear about them.
AMD Unveils a New Graphics Card at CES 2024
AMD has offered players high-end graphics cards at cheaper rates, and it is seemingly not slowing down anytime soon as it has announced the Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card at CES 2024, a card that players have waited for long after the launch of its predecessor, the Radeon RX 7600. The newly announced Radeon RX 7600 XT has the same GPUs and number of cores as the RX 7600.
However, the XT model of the card comes with 16GB of GDDR6 memory that allows players to play at any resolution above 1080p, boosted clock speed by up to 10%, and a total power draw of up to 190 watts, which is up from 165 watts in the RX 7600. The game clock and boost clock speed are also higher than RX 7600, as they come with 2.47 GHz of game clock speed (up from 2.25 GHz), and a boost clock speed of 2.76 GHz (up from 2.66 GHz), respectively.
Although everything seems to be better in the RX 7600 XT, the only problem that players might face is the memory bus, which is still at 128 bits. This might affect performance in some games, but seeing how players did not complain much about the RX 7600, it might not be a big issue.
The company has claimed that the RX 7600 XT will provide better performance than the RX 7600. The RX 7600 XT will go on sale on January 24, 2024, but no price has been announced. However, it is expected to be under $300 since the RX 7600 costs $269.
Nvidia Looks to Take on AMD With New RTX 40 Graphics Cards
Nvidia has also announced follow-up cards in its RTX 40 series at the Consumer Electronics Show 2024, with three new graphics cards based on the Ada Lovelace architecture. The new graphics cards are the RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4070 Super. These new models are upgrades of the previous model with enhanced performance as the company aims to compete with AMD’s high-end, cheaper graphics cards.
The company has also stated that these cards will be useful with on-device AI tasks. It has also stated that the RTX 4080 Super has up to 52 shader TFLOPS, 121 RT TFLOPS, and 836 AI TOPS of performance and is twice as fast as the 3080 Ti while using DLSS 3 Frame Generation. It generates video over 1.5x faster and images over 1.7x faster than 3080 Ti.
Although the company has not released the full specs, previous leaks state it might boast 10,240 CUDA cores, faster clock speeds, and more. The GPU is meant for 4K gaming and arrives on January 31, 2024, with a price tag of $999. The RTX 4070 Ti Super is meant for 1440p gaming and comes with 16 GB of memory (up from 12 GB).
It is 1.6x faster than an RTX 3070 Ti and 2.5x faster with DLSS 3, and it will arrive on January 24, 2024, with a price tag of $799. The company has said that the RTX 4070 Super is faster than the RTX 3090 as it comes with 20% more cores than the original model. RTX 4070 Super arrives on January 17, 2024, with a price tag of $599.
Nvidia has stated that these new cards will replace the non-Super cards, RTX 4080, RTX 4070 Ti, and RTX 4070. The company is trying to compete with the Radeon 7900 XTX and XT, which are both high-end and affordable, and Nvidia is looking to provide gamers with more high-end options.
