Activision and Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 had a rocky launch and was heavily criticized by players and critics alike for its short campaign and several other features. The developers tried to improve things for players and give them the experience they wanted in the game with multiplayer, and it did, but it is now once again facing backlash from players.

There is a time-limited mode in Modern Warfare 3 called Vortex where six players fight each other to take control of the Zombies Ray Gun. The mode takes place in three new remixed maps called Satan’s Quarry, Sporeyard, and Tetanus. The developer has brought an event for the mode called Vortex: War’s Domain, which began on January 3, 2024, and will end on January 17, 2024.

There are several rewards and challenges that players can unlock by earning XP in Multiplayer, MWZ, and Warzone, but these are all time-limited, so players will need to complete them in time to obtain them. The rewards include weapon skins, consumables, and more, with the last reward being an animated camo. The players are not happy with the ridiculous amount of XP required to unlock it.

A Redditor and Modern Warfare 3 player, MayaCoxack, took to the game’s official subreddit and expressed their disappointment with the required XP to unlock the camo and stated that they have been playing the game for a long time and are still not close to earning the required amount. The post reads:

Dear Devs: 1.2 million XP is lunacy. Please fix. Your average Zombies player gets 20k XP per match. I’ve been popping off endgame challenges for ages and am just now halfway done. This is WITH 2xp tokens, which I don’t even know if they help. Believe it or not, we have lives.

There are a total of 15 rewards in the War’s Domain event, and the animated camo can be unlocked by gaining 1,233,700 XP. The player has slammed the developer for this. Although the player is close to obtaining the camo, as seen in the picture they shared, they still decided to raise this issue, meaning that it was quite hard to get there. Players also stated that they gave up on the event when they saw the required XP to unlock the camo.

Many also added that developers think they play the game 24/7, and even after playing for hours every day, they are nowhere near unlocking it. However, not all players are upset about it, as they think the developer is trying to keep the game challenging and cater to the players who care about the events and can grind to obtain the rewards.

A fan even added that Sledgehammer is doing this deliberately to increase engagement. Another said that the developer is trying to get players to log in every day and exploit “FOMO.” But that’s not the only problem players are facing in the War’s Domain event. Players also encountered a bug when the event began that made the event tab inaccessible for many.

However, the event was still available to access and earn rewards. The developer said that it is aware of the issue and will bring a fix in the next few weeks, but many players are still not able to access the tab, and it seems there is still time before a fix is out. Players also recently stated that they do not want to play the Terminal Map in Hardpoint and want it to be replaced soon.
