Helldivers 2 is a terrific live service game experience developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and the player base has learned some valuable lessons about teamwork. This is war and players act as soldiers protecting the planet and it would require them to work together to get out of hairy situations.
The game developers have generated some impressive ideas that encourage players to lend each other a hand while in the middle of the crossfire but some make little sense. One controversial feature has to be reworked to make it more viable and safe for all players involved in the match.
The Assisted Reload in Helldivers 2 Needs to Be Convenient
Director Johan Pilestedt is always open to suggestions and even teased the gaming community about a heavy machine gun coming to Helldivers 2. The idea here is to have multiple squad members work together to assemble the weapon and for players to work as one to operate it.
Arrowhead Game Studios has always been interested in elevating the gaming experience and adding weapons that require the combined efforts of players is the way to do it. However, one feature like the assisted reload could cause some problems for independence in matches and will most likely cause a team’s downfall.
I once again beg for assisted reload to make sense. Not having to have a team mate carry your pack would just increase usage of it.

There are pros and cons for players to offer teammates a lending hand while out on the field. Players could throw allies an extra magazine like in realistic combat scenarios the disadvantage is that if either one of them is compromised or killed in action then the other will be inefficient in the mission’s entirety.
The concept is sound but the developers should carefully reconsider how to make this feature much more viable and less controversial. The developers once nerfed almost every primary firearm to encourage players to use other tools at their disposal like stratagems and to coordinate with allies, however, this feature will likely do more harm than good.
Helldivers 2 Needs to Be Realistic of What Assisted Reload Could Bring
There is nothing wrong with sharing the load and responsibilities of allies but it can put players in an unfortunate situation that could impact the entire mission. The developers need to look at the bigger picture and realize that the entertainment factor will take a hit if players with the extra ammunition get killed off early leaving the one with the weapon useless and vice versa.
There is untapped potential for the assisted reload feature if only the developers could make it more practical. Having to rely on fellow players to get the job done could leave them vulnerable and make allies dependent on accomplishing an objective.
Perhaps the developers could work around it and make some minor adjustments to increase the capacity for ammo on players already carrying the weapon. Players may not want to take a chance at getting shot at while passing some extra rounds to allies.
Pilestedt wanted to make a game that emphasizes teamwork and he succeeded but there is always room for improvement. It wouldn’t hurt to make a good idea into something better.
