In a recent Marvel India post featuring the Deadpool & Wolverine duo Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman discussing Marvel’s latest project, they engaged with questions from Indian film reporters.
When asked about a bollywood actor Reynolds would like to collaborate with in the future, he promptly named Ranveer Singh without hesitation. As he revealed,
I don’t even know. Oh…Ranveer Singh is amazing. He has done the voice of Deadpool I think. He is very funny. But also ripped.” While turning to Hugh, Ryan pointed out, “You think you are in shape?–This guy makes you look like a ‘Crypt-Keeper’. He is amazing.
Ranveer Singh, known for his energetic performances and unique style, has carved a niche as one of Bollywood’s leading actors. His versatility extends beyond traditional roles, evident when he lent his voice to the Hindi version of Deadpool 2, adding his charismatic touch to the Merc with a Mouth. Deadpool & Wolverine has already burst onto the scene with record-breaking first-day advance ticket sales across the country’s largest movie circuits.
Tickets for the Marvel Studios sequel went on sale in May, with the official North American release set for July 26 and previews the night before. Fandango, a major online ticketing service, reported brisk sales, marking the best start for any film in 2024 so far, including setting records for the franchise and R-rated features.
While exact figures from Fandango and AMC weren’t disclosed, industry insiders suggest first-day sales could range between $8 million to $9 million as per Forbes. Despite no official comments, all indicators point toward Deadpool & Wolverine easily surpassing $100 million in its opening weekend, a milestone no other 2024 release has achieved amid a challenging year for the domestic box office.
Previous installments, 2016’s Deadpool and 2018’s Deadpool 2, remain at the top of the R-rated box office with impressive opening weekend numbers.
