There’s no doubt that Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the best titles Swen Vincke and his team has made. The developers’ perfectly crafted elements led to the title being loved by critics and fans alike, with story, characters, world, and gameplay all being significant components.
As the RPG continues to smash record after record, the developers aren’t ready to rest on their laurels. A new X/Twitter post by Vincke reveals that his team is gearing up to plan its next hit.
Swen Vincke Talks About Studio’s Future Projects
Larian has established itself as the top name in the gaming landscape with its critically acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3. The studio’s founder, Swen Vincke, took to X/Twitter to share some details about its upcoming title.
Vincke reminisced about a meeting that was held two years ago in the room that led to the creation of the game’s finishing. Yesterday, the same room hosted discussions about the studio’s next endeavor.
Although we still don’t have any idea about the studio’s upcoming projects, it has already been established, and it won’t be another Dungeons & Dragons title. Instead, we can expect a completely new RPG experience. However, we do know that the studio has two ambitious projects planned.

One of these gaming projects is codenamed “Excalibur” generating further hype among players. But the studio still hasn’t revealed what the title can be about. Given the studio’s reputation for creating top-notch gaming experiences, we can expect a truly genre-defining game yet again.
Many in the community are hoping that Vincke and his team will pay another visit to the Divinity series, perhaps Divinity: Original Sin 3. However, there’s not been a single hint from the developers for any plans to return to the franchise.
Will There Be a Sequel or DLC for the Game?
Given the phenomenal success of the game, one might expect that Vincke and his team are rushing to create more DLCs or a sequel to capitalize on the game’s hype. In fact, they were at some point but gave up on the project.
During a presentation at the CDC, Vincke revealed that the studio is planning to move away from Baldur’s Gate franchise. Although he did say that Baldur’s Gate 4 is still possible, it won’t be developed by his studio.
The franchise’s future is controlled by Dungeons and Dragons publisher Wizards of the Coast, who can now choose which studio to lead the next installment in the Baldur’s Gate franchise.
The studio will continue releasing patches for the game and has even given players some minor content updates that added features such as new animations, and epilogue. Unfortunately, it’s still not clear how long the studio plans to support the game.
