But with the Game Pass, the scenario was different. Although the tables are going to turn upside down after some unexpected changes and a price hike, there is one news coming up for Xbox fans that might put the final nail in the coffin.

Microsoft Rewards points have always been instrumental in funding the Xbox Game Pass. However, as things stand, fans will not be able to do this anymore.

Many Xbox users around the world are getting some sudden disclaimer messages from Xbox stating that auto-renewing the Game Pass at the expense of Mircosoft Rewards Points won’t be possible. This is exactly what the message stated:

You will no longer be allowed to use your Rewards points to fund your Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscriptions.

However, other users have stated that they have received a different notice about a price hike for auto-redeeming the Game Pass through Microsoft Rewards points. The new price for autos is 12,000 per month, and next month it will be raised to 15,000 per month.

It is believed that you will need 44,000 points to redeem the Game Pass for three months, which is a lot compared to the previous price. The communication is unclear right now from the company, as different fans are getting different disclaimers. There is also no official announcement but as things stand, this doesn’t look very good from a gamer’s perspective.

Xbox Game Pass Is Up for a Huge Revamp

Xbox Game Pass right now is on a roller coaster ride. Besides scrapping fan-favorite features like auto-redeeming Game Pass through Microsoft Rewards Points, the company is also raising the prices of the subscription plans.

The most premium of the segments, Game Pass Ultimate, will be priced at $19.99 per month, up from $16.99. Game Pass Core will also get a price hike, from $59.99 to $74.99 a year. However, the monthly charge for Core remains the same ($9.99).

Last but not least, PC Game Pass subscribers will also have to face the price hike, as this plan will be priced at $11.99 per month. When it comes to changes, the biggest one has to be that new users will not be able to access Game Pass for Console. Existing users are not at stake, as their subscriptions will run normally without any stoppage.

But for new users, there will be a new tier on the console named Game Pass Standard, which will cost $14.99. However, the difference from this tier with the previous Game Pass for Console will be that the new one won’t have new games on day one. All of these new changes and price hikes will take effect from September 12, 2024.
