Ellen DeGeneres’ Rough Beginnings Made Her Appreciate And Enjoy Her Success
Ellen DeGeneres might have ended her popular talk show in 2022, but the comedian has tasted huge success through it and amassed a significant income. She managed to transform her life in a big way compared to her rough beginnings in Louisiana. DeGeneres once detailed her meager past on her talk show where her family struggled to even maintain a decent living.
In that episode where she had Beef star Ali Wong, the talk show host revealed that her family was very poor back then and did not have their own house. Despite her mother being a real estate agent, they couldn’t afford to buy any houses (via Good Housekeeping). The young DeGeneres started to develop her own mindset about money and was determined to enjoy her successes in the best way.
The comedian told Wong that she has never been extra cautious about money and uses her money in whatever way she wants. As she became more successful and started earning a big income, she decided to enjoy her newfound fame and never live with the fear of money. DeGeneres said (via YouTube),
I was poor growing up. I was just like, ‘I am never going to have that attitude about money. I am always going to just get what I want, I am going to do what I want. Because I know there is an abundance and I will always have enough. You shouldn’t live your life in fear of money.
With a $500 million net worth (via Celebrity Net Worth), DeGeneres is not a miser when it comes to spending her money and wants to live the best life, which she didn’t have when she was a kid. Through her hard work and perseverance, she has earned the right to celebrate her successes and not be afraid to do so.
