With the release of early access for EA Sports College Football very close (July 16th), the 25th title in the series, players have waiting to get their hands on playing the game. As in every sports game, like gameplay, the surrounding also plays a huge role, from the crowd sounds to the sounds from player tackles.

The upcoming game boasts all these features, from good crowd sounds to realistic player voice lines. However, players still feel that the game should also have included actual photographs of player headshots, not just virtual generic faces.

Players Feel EA Sports College Football Should Use Actual Faces

In other titles like Madden NFL and EA Sports FC, the athlete’s headshots are the captured photographs of the real athletes. If EA implemented this feature on EA Sports College Football, it could add a layer of realism to the game, enhancing the overall presentation of the game from the player’s perspective.

In sports games, nostalgia plays a huge role. When players see their favorite NFL stars or international football players represented with their photographs, it helps create a special connection.

However, despite knowing this (from other titles) EA Sports College Football is trying to deliver a college football experience with generic player avatars instead of using real photographs. This has started a discussion in the community as players feel like they are missing that connection.

Even though players will still enjoy the game for all its other features and fluid gameplay, they also realize that this decision might be because of logistical and licensing challenges. Yet they feel that EA should have tried more as sometimes the generic faces detract players from the immersive gameplay.

Developers Still Have a Chance to Add the feature

While EA Sports College Football is undoubtedly one of the best games for the NFL, it has its unique challenges to face and navigate through to find success. It is evident from the player’s reaction that the inclusion of real photographs for player headshots would have made the gameplay even more immersive but they can add it in the future patches.

As the gaming community eagerly awaits to play the game on July 19th (who don’t have early access), there is always hope that the developers will listen to the feedback and will implement changes accordingly in the future. EA Sports have a lot of experience in creating sports games so it has the potential to make it happen.
