The Acolyte Season 1, Episode 8, “The Acolyte,” finds Osha and Mae at a crossroads with their current abductors. Osha has a vision after putting The Stranger/Qimir’s helmet on. The Sith master struggles to free Osha from the helmet’s restraints, as he has to use dark force to remove them. Osha then tells him she envisioned Mae killing Sol without using weapons.

Meanwhile, they are chillingly watched over by Darth Plagueis. (We first met this character in the 2005 film Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.) According to Star Wars lore, he is a “Sith Lord with the ability to cheat death and create life.” Osha knows precisely where they are headed, and they leave together to see if they can stop her.

Meanwhile, back on the ship, while Mae is restrained, she blames Sol and his team for killing her entire community and family. He also tells her that Mae and Osha are not twins, which shocks her. As Mae manipulates Sol into an emotional response, she frees herself and zaps him in the chest. She leaves Sol behind by hijacking a ship to Brendok, where he follows.

Disney+’s The Acolyte (2024) Season 1 Episode 8 Recap: Who Visits Vernestra Rwoh?

Vernestra Rwoh (Rebecca Henderson) is visited by the Senator (David Harewood), who runs a review board of the Order of the Jedi. It seems that Rwoh has not reported the murder of multiple Jedi on the planet of Khofar. Since Sol (Lee Jung-jae) is a suspect, she has kept this to herself. When the Senator asks Rwoh who the suspect is, she refuses to tell him.

The Senator has an interesting theory about the Jedi. He says they operate as if they are a religion—a cult even—with unchecked powers and no one to answer to. He also adds that he will report Vernestra’s lack of transparency to the Senate. He makes a great point with a subtext many have picked up on how power corrupts.

Rwoh is notified that the tracker has Sol at Brendok. She gathers a handful of Jedi and heads to Mae/Osha’s (Amandla Stenberg) home planet.

Who Created Mae and Osha?

Sol thinks Mother Aniseya created them by using the Force and the power of Brendrock. After a spectacular lightsaber battle between Qimir  (Top Gun: Maverick’s Manny Jacinto) and Sol, Mae prevents Sol from killing the Sith. The Stranger then demands Mae strike down Sol because he is the source of all her pain.

However, she wants Sol to stand trial before the high council. Sol admits that it was the right thing to take Osha because that kind of power can only be wielded by the Jedi. This is after Mae broke the news to Osha that Sol is the one who killed their mother, Aniseya, the leader of a coven of Force witches. Sol finally admits out loud that he killed Aniseya, and Osha overhears him.

Osha then picks up Sol’s lightsaber, which was knocked to the ground a few moments earlier.

Who Kills Sol?

Osha kills Sol but in a very surprising fashion. Sol pleads with Osha for everything he did, including keeping the murders from the high council. He explains that without Mae, who is the proof, no one would have believed him. Osha then tells Sol to stop talking. Of course, he doesn’t. While still holding Sol’s weapon, her former master begins to choke.

That’s because Osha is using the dark side of the Force to kill Sol, who is unarmed. (This was just like Osha’s vision!) The Force choke brings Sol to his knees, and he forgives Osha as a single tear trickles down his cheek.

Why Does Sol’s Lightsaber Turn from Blue to Red?

Sol’s lightsaber turns from blue to red, representing Osha’s turn to the dark side. After killing Sol, Osha picks up his weapon and is overcome with dark emotions. She then attempts to strike Qimir with the Jedi tool but stops as the color turns from blue to red. Qimir has a look of understanding, while Mae is taken aback, and so is Osha, by the revelations.

As we take a look at the central theme of colonialism and how power corrupts, we come to realize that Osha corrupts the Kyber crystal in Sol’s lightsaber. As Rwoh and the other Jedi knights approach, Mae and Osha leave together, escaping Brendok.

Disney+’s The Acolyte Season 1 Episode 8 Ending Explained: Why Does Rwoh Lie to the High Council?

The first season of Star Wars: The Acolyte ends with Rwoh bringing Mae back to Coruscant and lying to the high council to protect Mae. Rwoh reports that Sol was the one who killed Indara (Carrie-Anne Moss), Torbin, and Kelnacca to cover up the crime of murdering the cover of Force Witches. Rwoh apologizes to Mae, saying to her Sol was a good man who did a terrible thing.

Who was Rwoh’s Padawan?

This is after Sith Qimir and Osha wipe Mae’s memory clean to protect Osha’s location, who escapes Brendok with her new master. Of course, Rwoh’s actions may be more selfless. She asks Mae to help find her former Padawan, The Stranger/Qimir! Additionally, the last time we see Osha, she is looking over water while holding her new Master’s hand.
