Marvel Studio’s Agatha All Along will be released in just a few months from now and we already got a glimpse into the story with the recent teaser trailer showing Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha front and center. The actress will be joined by a few other faces including Joe Locke’s “Teen” who is widely believed to be Billy Kaplan aka Wiccan, Wanda’s son.
In a recent interview, Joe Locke opened up about the upcoming Disney+ series as well as his character and confirmed that “Teen” will identify as gay in the show. Needless to say, this revelation did not sit well with some fans who don’t realize that Wiccan, too, is gay in the comic books and that if Joe Locke is actually playing Wiccan, his sexuality is true to the source.
Joe Locke Confirms His Character’s Sexuality in Agatha All Along
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Joe Locke opened up about the upcoming miniseries starring Kathryn Hahn. He seemed pretty confident in his words when he stated that Agatha All Along will not be like anything we have seen in a Marvel project so far. Take one look at the teaser trailer and you will realize that Locke is actually onto something here.
Summarizing the show’s plot, Locke stated that the show will follow Agatha and the coven’s story as they travel down the Witches’ Road.
It’s a dark comedy about witches. It’s not what you would usually expect from a Marvel series. We gather a coven and a very unlikely group of women and me — which is my life in general — get on the Witches’ Road. Then magic, fun, and mystery prevails.
Locke also added that his character, who is being called “Teen” in the show’s official press materials, is the one that helps Agatha break free from the spell that Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda cast on her in WandaVision.
Coming to his character, Locke admitted that “Teen” will be gay in Agatha All Along.
The way it’s explored in the show is very truthful and very positive. His sexuality is just one part of the character.
This revelation is all the more reason to believe that “Teen” is just a cover-up for Locke’s character, who is actually Billy Kaplan/Wiccan.
Fans React to Joe Locke’s Revelation
Of course, an update like this is going to garner all kinds of responses from the fans. While some are totally supportive of the character’s sexuality, others’ reaction to the news is quite negative, to say the least.
Those who fall in the latter category are deeming Agatha All Along as The Acolyte of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, some are even going as far as to say that they now will not be watching the show anymore.
On the other hand, there are fans who are in support of the decision and are pointing out that the sexuality of Locke’s character is true to the comic books.
Welcome to the MCU's The Acolyte.

I hope people will read this and be sensible enough to understand that this is true to his comic character as well.

As his character is in the comics.

Well he is gay in the comics so it only makes sense

Wiccan is openly gay in the comic books right from a young age, which made him the target of his peers at school. He was ridiculed and bullied for his sexuality, something which many members of the LGBTQ+ community can unfortunately relate to. In the comics, he was in a relationship with Teddy Altman aka Hulkling.
Only time will tell if the sexuality of “Teen” actually puts Agatha All Along in a tough spot or not.
The first 2 episodes of Agatha All Along will be released on Disney+ on September 18, 2024.
