Considering how the release of the base game went, maybe it’s not the wisest to have a lot of hype for this, but it’s hard to quell. One Redditor has asked fellow players what they hope to see in the upcoming rover update, and there are some good ideas in there.

Starfield desperately needs a win, and adding rovers to the game could be one of them.

Ever since the May developers update when the team officially announced it was working on vehicles, people have not been able to contain their excitement.

An open-world game without a convenient mode of traversal is like eating spaghetti with a spoon, and Bethesda thankfully realized that. It was a little surprising to hear since the studio has never dropped non-horse land mounts before, so these rovers are going to make history.

While we don’t know exactly when these vehicles are going to be added to the game, people have been biding their time in different ways. One Redditor attempts to incite some discussion by asking people what they expect to see from the rover update.

To start, OP hopes that the rovers have a ‘Boost’ feature, as it would be really interesting to see it take off on a low-gravity planet. You’d be zooming across the map faster than Sonic the Hedgehog.

They also mentioned the desire for rover customization, kind of like howshipbuildingg works. It definitely would be nice to be able to recolor your rover, add and remove accessories, and completely make it your own.

Traversing Starfield‘s endless number of planets on foot or jetpack doesn’t give the same feel as zooming around on a rover.

With so many people having waited for an addition like this, there’s no shortage of ideas that Bethesda can implement.

One of the most popular suggestions was being able to deploy the rover from your ship, sort of like through a vehicle bay module. Combining this with a customization option would tie everything together.

A reply mentions something quite important—they hope the rovers serve more purpose than just being a way to get from A to B. Instead, if you could add some functional attachments to them, they would be way more fun to use.

Whatever your wishes may be, it’s best not to get your hopes up. You never know if Bethesda nails the implementation or somehow misses every note.

That being said, we’d love to know what you’re expecting from the rover update! Let us know in the comments below.
