Since its official release back in 2023, Larian has been constantly rolling out robust updates for its hit game Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3). These patches have already brought an epilogue to the game, as well as new romance options.
However, in April, Larian revealed Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch #7, giving players a look at what to expect. Among the brand-new additions are evil endings for characters, a plethora of technical fixes, and finally, a dynamic split-screen, which will take the game to the next level!
Larian is Bringing Dynamic Split-Screen to Baldur’s Gate 3
With millions of copies shipped, extensive critical acclaim, and tons of awards, Baldur’s Gate 3 is preparing for its biggest patch ever! The upcoming Patch 7 arrives in September, and while it finally brings the new cinematics and improvements, there’s much more to look forward to.
Baldur’s Gate 3 patch notes were shared via the official Steam page, and it was revealed that Larian is going to bring support for dynamic split-screen. When switched on, the screen for co-op partners will be split when they’re at different locations but integrate so as they come closer.
Players will be able to access this new option directly from the game’s HUG and within settings while you’re in or out of combat. It’s a clever way to enhance the game’s cooperative experience by giving the community a more fluid interface.
With brand-new content and improved features, Larian continues its commitment to enhance the player experience in the game. While it’s sad to see that the game won’t have a dedicated DLC, these updates are a phenomenal way to ensure gamers have a reason to continue their adventures in Faerun.

One of the most interesting things revealed in Baldur’s Gate 3‘s patch notes was that the game is finally getting official modding tools. This will allow gamers to create or edit items and equipment, change classes, redesign, improve dice, or switch up the user interface.
Since Baldur Gate 3‘s debut, the game’s modding scene has been thriving despite the lack of official support from Larian. The addition of official modding support will finally streamline the modding process and enhance the overall quality of these game-changing mods.
The developers have revealed that they’ve been working closely with mod developers during the closed alpha phase to refine the official toolkit. Early feedback suggests that Larian’s new tools will completely change the modding process from the ground, making it more accessible for novice and seasoned modders.
We’re already seeing various mod developers create new things, including Dragonborn scale colors, visual enhancements, and character skins. If you’re interested in trying out the patch early, a closed Beta phase will take place from July 22, 2024, with registrations open now.
