The word on the street is that Glen Powell is coming off from his storm-chasing high to take on the gritty, crime-infested underworld of Gotham. While that certainly presents the fans with an interesting proposition, it can also mean that should the rumor turn out to be untrue, the mass outcry will be the cause of its own effect.

The recent favoritism surrounding the actor began after his role in the Netflix rom-com Set It Up took the audience by surprise. A moderately unknown actor from the sidelines suddenly stepped into mainstream Hollywood — charming the fans with his infectious megawatt smile, making the crowds cheer even for his antiheroic arc in Top Gun: Maverick while the rest swooned for him in Anyone But You.

Glen Powell’s star power was decided for him by the fates that crossed his path with Tom Cruise. However, the actor made every second thereafter count by rising up the ranks in Hollywood to now stand as one of the new generation A-list movie stars in the making.

Batman is Up for Another Reboot With Brave and the Bold

Rumors, especially those pertaining to the developing DC universe, are not to be taken seriously unless they come straight from the horse’s mouth. But half the enjoyment lies in the anticipation, but anticipation makes fans reach for bizarre things. As DCU levels up in the world of comic book adaptations, Superman takes off amid thunderous applause from the fans.

However, the next candidate in the line of succession is the timeless Caped Crusader aka the Bat of Gotham. As such, the fans can barely play the waiting game seeing as to how the noir anti-hero is the only character in the world of DC that can be rebooted, remade, and retold via countless different variations and still come off as superbly fascinating each time.

Whether it’s Michael Keaton’s comic-pop Batman, Christopher Nolan’s gritty Dark Knight, Zack Snyder’s nihilistic Caped Crusader, or Robert Pattinson’s perpetually brooding detective, the IP created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane is one that can truly be endlessly reincarnated — even by comic book standards.

Glen Powell Teases a Future in James Gunn’s DCU

While actors ranging from the iconic Kevin Conroy to Christian Bale to Jensen Ackles have played their part in bringing the DC superhero to life, none have been more ridiculed during their tenure than Val Kilmer (for his suit) and George Clooney (for basically everything).

However, now, at the tail end of Robert Pattinson’s divine take on the IP, it will be a tough act to follow up for whoever gets the unlucky job of filling in the DCU Batman’s shoes.

If rumors are to be believed, then that unfortunate candidate is none other than the infectious charmer Glen Powell who, if we are being honest, would be a dead giveaway for his enemies simply because of his megawatt smile — the only exposed area in his otherwise impenetrable suit of armor.

However, there is a reason behind why the fans are suddenly so taken up by the actor. According to the eagle-eyed social media followers, the actor seems to have recently followed both James Gunn and Andy Muschietti (besides David Corenswet aka Superman and Rachel Brosnahan aka Lois Lane as well) — the DCU Chief and director of The Brave and the Bold respectively.

With Superman scheduled for a July 2025 release, the Batman project is still some distance away in terms of development, let alone completion. It’s no surprise if Powell’s decision to follow the DC creatives is an act of his own, or perhaps an attempt at shooting his shot before the official search party begins.
