It was the main reason for the back pain. But, an old picture of the mangaka recently went viral, and it clearly showcased the reason for his health issues. In the image, he was seen playing video games while taking support on one elbow. Laying in that position for hours could develop spine problems. His enter room was a mess with trash everywhere. It looked like a waste bin rather than a room.
Seems like that scene from the end of the Greed Island arc was inspired from Togashi’s personal lifestyle 😂

There were others who mentioned that the lengthy hiatus he takes is from losing his scripts in the mess. It takes him years before he can find them again. Currently, the Succession War arc is ongoing. With Gon Freecs unable to use Nen, the story has taken a new turn. The Hunters are preparing for an expedition to the Dark Continent. The manga was adapted into an anime twice. The second anime happened more than a decade ago. The fans are keeping their fingers crossed in the hopes of seeing a proper ending. If Yoshihiro Togashi can maintain a clean and proper schedule, he might be able to please the fans.
