Call of Duty is one of the strongest gaming franchises and the developers dipped their toes in the live service genre’s more ambitious and collaborative nature. The gaming community adored the multiplayer concept of the franchise and the developers created a dedicated game for them to brawl.

The developers got comfortable and creative with the multiplayer aspect and crafted unique animations known as finishers. These can be activated once a player approaches a downed enemy and finishes the job in a much more grotesque and playful way and the developers have outdone themselves.

Activision acknowledges the value of the franchise and how much it means to the gaming community. The gaming company got a read on the industry’s current climate and is keeping up with the live service trend while using the brand to promote Microsoft’s subscription service known as Xbox Game Pass.

The fans were pleased to see Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 finally make it to Game Pass after months of waiting. The developers apply every possible strategy to give them an edge against the fierce competition. Finishers were implemented for a more intimate encounter against enemy players and most of them are added for comedic purposes.

Fans have agreed about what could be the best out of every finishing move available. Finishing moves like kicking enemy players out of the map is one for the books and catches the player base off guard. However, some would argue that adding a finisher move is a step in the wrong direction and an insult to the franchise’s core.

The developers have made questionable creative choices that drove a wedge between them and the gaming community. Not everyone is fond of finishing moves and the same sentiment can be said about the ridiculous crossover cosmetic items that have plagued the franchise.

These new additions are meant to give the gaming community a familiar feeling that other great online multiplayer games have to offer. These can grant the players a rewarding feeling after executing their opponents with style and will remind the enemy team that they are not to be meddled with.

The downside to online multiplayer games is that there will always be players who will make fun of others and abuse in-game features and mechanics like finishing moves. Censor was streaming live on his channel while Nadeshot thought it would be funny to sneak up on the fellow content creator and stream snipe him.

People will exploit these as a new form of bullying which will only make the online community more toxic than it already is. Perhaps Activision will tone down the finishing moves to avoid the game being overrun by bullies and toxic players.

Regardless of how people choose to use these unique and special features, it shows that the developers are playing catch-up and are taking it one step at a time. There could be more finishing moves coming for Warzone bundled with new Operators.
