Jackman has become synonymous with the name and image of Wolverine, but it wasn’t an overnight success. Through the years, the Australian star had to maintain his physique because he is contractually obliged.

Hugh Jackman Shares What He Eats To Get Into His Wolverine Body

While guesting on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, actor Hugh Jackman revealed his diet plan for Deadpool & Wolverine. He notably reprised his role after seemingly retiring in 2017’s Logan, and for the last time, he bulked up to play Wolverine.

You eat a lot. It’s 6,000 calories, and it’s not the calories you necessarily want. You can get 6,000 calories, like, half a pizza is 6,000 calories. But no, this is chicken, and it’s tilapia and beans. Tilapia and beans. I don’t know why tilapia. It must be some fish that is lean, and green beans.

As he mentioned, his meal prep doesn’t sound too enticing for the regular people out there. He once admitted he enjoyed the rigorous training but not the diet regimen.

In the same interview, he shared that at the beginning of production, he wanted to focus on how his body looked on camera. Director Shawn Levy asked him where he wanted to place that scene and he said towards the end. But then, the strike came and the plan was put on hold. Now, he had to continue eating tilapia and beans until they resumed work.

Despite so, Jackman said the training and diet worked, and even if he did it for a long time, he believes it is “worth it”.

For someone who had to maintain his bulky figure for a series of films, many have speculated that Jackman might be taking some extra supplements for his body. In his interview with Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, the actor responded if he ever took steroids:

No, I love my job. And I love Wolverine. I’m going to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that. And I was like, ‘I don’t love it that much.’ So no, I just did it the old-school way.

He claimed to have eaten so many chickens in his lifetime because he needed all that protein he could get. Jackman has been working on himself the old-fashioned way, and the outcome does not lie.

Fans who have seen the actor grow in his role as Wolverine through the years know how much effort he put into getting in shape every single movie.
