Masashi Kishimoto has created a tale depicting the struggles of the shinobi and their lifestyle. However, love finds its way into the most unexpected places, and Naruto is no exception. While Naruto-Hinata and Sasuke-Sakura are definitely the most popular couples in the show, there’s one more duo who are just as sweet, if not more.
Shikamaru and Temari have always had a sweet and sour relationship, which was slowly developed by Kishimoto throughout the series. In fact, the love between these two was so apparent that anyone would be able to pick it up from their very first meeting.
Naruto Voice Actor Admits He Knew Two Characters Who Would Definitely Get Together
The voice actors of Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke appeared in an interview in 2015 for DaVinci magazine. After a bout of question and answer, the actors began discussing the couples that got together in Naruto. Chie Nakamura, the voice actress of Sakura, claimed that while the love life of Naruto was one thing, fans were more excited about the relationships and marriages of Naruto’s comrades. The cast of Sasuke, Noriyaki Sugiyama, also admitted that there were some unexpected combinations during the finale.
Junko Takeuchi, the voice actress of Naruto, thus added:
Even though the only ones that we expected to definitely get together were Shikamaru and Temari.
Both Shikamaru and Temari have consistently formed a close bond with each other throughout the course of Naruto. In fact, their bond was so transparent that voice actors, as well as fans, had full faith that the two would get together if they managed to survive their collective enemies.
Once again, Naruto does not revolve around romance and is a quite serious anime with tragic deaths, power struggles, and more. Yet, Masashi Kishimoto was able to deliver some of the softest romances in the story.
The Whirlwind Love Story of Shika-Tema in Naruto
Shikamaru and Temari met for the first time during the Chunin Exams Arc of Nauto. Shikamaru had a scheduled match with Temari and almost defeated her but spared her at the last moment by claiming that he had spent too much chakra. This was definitely a heartwarming moment between them that later set up the plot for their romance.
In the next few missions, Temari showed up at the right time and saved Shikamaru. In the Sasuke Recovery Mission arc, Temari stops Tayuya from killing Shikamaru and even promises that she will help him if anything happens in the future.
Temari always praised Shikamaru, which made him feel embarrassed, but she would also remind him of his duties. Later, during the Blank Period, Shikamaru asks Temari out on a date, and they also look for Naruto and Hinata’s wedding gift together in the story. In the epilogue of Naruto, the couple is revealed to be married with a son.
