At the San Diego Comic-Con event, Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby took some time to speak with Variety and share the experience of wearing their suits for the first time. The English actress revealed she had a “surreal” moment, adding:

The fact that we’re all in space suits was amazing to witness when we watched the Apollo 11… it was so amazing to think about the 1960s and space and the people’s relationship to it, and really grounded and a communal experience that everybody went through as a global population with this idea of going to the moon for the first time.

Kirby could not help but gush over how good her costar looked in his costume. Pointing to Pascal, she said: “Not only does he look so good in it, by the way, no seriously, I can’t stop thinking about it.” Surely, she also looked stunning in her own fit.

The 36-year-old star teased the plot of the upcoming reboot film. As fans already know, they will no longer tackle the origin of the Fantastic Four since there had been previous narratives about it. Kirby said the movie will show what they will do after their physical changes.

In reality, these guys did go through this experience in space and came down and we’re altered because of it, both internally and externally, and how do we get to play that out together and to wear the things for the first time, I’m really glad we did that as a pre-shoot before starting in 24 hours.

Her statement indeed brings more anticipation on the audience’s part. If she could not get Pascal’s image in his Reed Richards suit off her mind, then it means it’s tailored to perfection.

In connection to what Kirby mentioned above, director Matt Shakman confirmed to Entertainment Weekly what he wanted to deliver for the reboot. Since the Fantastic Four comic was created in the ‘60s, the creators infused the idea of space travelers.

I really wanted to take all of that great stuff from Apollo 11 and just imagine that instead of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, it was the Storms and Ben Grimm and Reed Richards heading off into space.

The movie will also feature Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer and Ralph Ineson as Galactus. Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne are also joining the band in undisclosed roles.

At the San Diego Comic-Con, the franchise had several promotional stints such as a drone show with the team’s logo and a retro-looking flying car.
