While the Straw Hats have managed to somehow escape the claws of the Five Elders, there are still a lot of dangers to sort out before they can finally descend to the Elbaf village, which would mark the beginning of the second arc of the finale saga.
However, the narrative of the Egghead Island arc might not be the one to carry a happy ending, as it has proved to be the biggest eye-opener for the One Piece fans and for the people within the One Piece world. Not only have the revelations made by Dr. Vegapunk shaken the world, but the Five Elders and their demonic forms have also surprised the people on Egghead.
Thus, there is a theory going around on the internet that Eiichiro Oda is planning a sad ending for Egghead because of the Five Elder’s secret being out. This sad ending includes a lot of killing, especially for the Navy’s side, as they cannot just yet let the secret about their yokai forms slip out in the One Piece world.
The Secret of the Five Elders in One Piece
While the Five Elders are known to the general public of One Piece as the highest authority within the World Government, no one knows about their true intentions or their true forms that wreaked havoc on Egghead Island. They have only posed as the people who are in charge of keeping the peace, and they have kept this image for a long time.
So much so that they rarely step out of the Pangaea Castle, and many parts of the One Piece world have not even heard of them. Even the Marines are unaware of their true power, and only the highest authorities among them truly know what they are capable of. If the Marines or the normal people of the One Piece world found out about their truth, it would cause mayhem.
This is why when Saturn landed on Egghead Island, the Marines at and below the rank of Commodore were commanded not to look directly towards the Elder, and whoever did face death immediately at the hands of Saturn. They are truly concerned about their identity being revealed to the world.
One Piece Theory Explains the Sinister Ending of Egghead Arc
The events of Egghead Island have caused a big problem for the Five Elders, as almost everyone present on the island has witnessed their demonic transformations and their terrifying methods of dealing with a problem. Thus, u/Nickmcadv came up with the theory that maybe the Five Elders will kill everyone present on the island (including the Marines) after the battle is over.
The theory also states that this might be the reason why Eiichiro Oda decided to introduce an entirely new batch of Navy Vice Admirals that were hidden for a long time in One Piece.

These new Vice Admirals include Vice Admiral Doberman, Vice Admiral Doll, Vice Admiral Red King, Vice Admiral Guillotine, Vice Admiral Tosa, Vice Admiral Hound, Vice Admiral Pomsky, Vice Admiral Urban, and Vice Admiral Bluegrass.
However, this also means that the old Marines and Navy authorities will be safe from the terror of the Five Elders. Nevertheless, it will truly be a sad and horrifying ending to the Egghead Island arc if the Five Elders decide to take extensive measures to keep their identity a secret from the entire world.
