Star Wars Outlaws is an upcoming open-world game set within a galaxy far, far away. The developers created an original story for the gaming community to experience the Galactic Civil War from a worm’s eye view and introduce the players to a galaxy that feels lived in through this small attention to detail.
The gaming community has been begging for an open-world Star Wars game for quite some time. The recent success of many ambitious open-world games has given the game developers the confidence to take the franchise in a new direction that feels relatively familiar at the same time.
The Developers Took Notes From Other Open-World Games for Star Wars Outlaws
The gaming community has high expectations for this new project and the pressure is at an all-time high over at the offices of Massive Entertainment. It is common practice for game developers to share previews or gameplay footage of projects that are in active development and are closing in the launch window, unfortunately, the gameplay footage of Star Wars Outlaws has done more harm than good.
Some fans pointed out that the gameplay looks dated for the current generation title and are not too impressed with what they see. However, some players decided to give the game the benefit of the doubt and are open to seeing what else it has to show.

Random events are not the only game mechanics the developers borrowed from the studio and incorporated the wanted system from the Grand Theft Auto franchise. The Empire will be on high alert whenever Kay does something to upset the law and will deploy Stormtroopers in areas to gun her down.
The developers realized the success of the Red Dead Redemption prequel and how it appealed to players by adding activities and random events to keep the momentum. The gaming community has a short attention span and will likely lose interest if they continue to roam from one objective to another without anything to spice up their experience.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Was Way Ahead of Its Time
Massive Entertainment was right to influence this original Star Wars project with game mechanics that stood out in the past. Ubisoft claimed that there will be no dull moment in the game and that something will occur every two or three minutes which can increase the entertainment factor.
The gaming community developed different preferences after developers provided them with countless options in recent years. The open-world genre is a tough structure to crack and only a handful of games have flourished.
There is no shame in taking notes from competitors, on the contrary, fans will appreciate the effort made by the developers to appeal to them and give them a familiar experience. Star Wars is one of the biggest entertainment franchises out there and this could benefit all parties involved but mostly the fans.
Perhaps other developers will follow this example. If something isn’t broken then there is nothing to fix.
