When quizzed during an interview about which film phase Marvel was currently on, Curtis showed her instinctive wit with an epic reply.

It looks like Kevin Feige and Marvel are well on their way to seeing better days. After huge anticipation, Deadpool & Wolverine made its theatrical debut on July 27th, 2024, and seems to be carving a definite path to ruling the box office, judging from its initial responses.

As per the latest report in Variety, the movie has surpassed its previous two editions in the first two days by making $205 million in its opening weekend. The first and second Deadpool films amassed $132 million and $125 million respectively. In addition, the film has also created history  for the best weekend collection by any R-rated movie.

The Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman starrer has currently had the best debut of all films of 2024, beating out the previous leader Inside Out 2, which made $155 million over its opening weekend. While all these milestones would be making Kevin Feige ecstatic, Jamie Lee Curtis could possibly spoil his mood if he heard what she had to say about the franchise.

Appearing at the San Diego Comic-Con (via MTV News), the Oscar-winning actor gave a cheeky and epic reply to a question about Marvel and the MCU. When quizzed about which phase the MCU was currently in, Curtis did not blink an eye when she said, ‘Bad’.

While this was a classic troll by the star who is known for her humor, the fact remains that the franchise did warrant these sort of comments following a forgettable line-up of films and series in 2023. But Curtis may well have to eat her words when she sees what Deadpool & Wolverine is achieving in theaters currently.

The celebrity who appeared on The Late Late Show with James Cordon (via Insider), used the show as a platform to take a tongue-in-cheek dig at Tom Cruise. Referring to the superstar being called Hollywood’s savior for his massive blockbuster, Top Gun: Maverick. Curtis jokingly expressed her views in a manner that left viewers with no doubt about her thoughts on the matter.

I’m not here to talk about the fact that my movies have made $2.5 billion in the box office and that Tom Cruise isn’t the only one who saved show business.

To put her statement into context, the actor has been part of multiple huge hits that have taken her career to great heights while also giving Hollywood its repute. Starting with her debut in 1978 with Halloween, the celebrity starred in big commercial films like Freaky Friday and True Lies.  Knives Out is her highest grossing film with a collection of over $312 million at the box office.

Speaking against the reliance on one celebrity, Curtis went on to say that there was room for many iconic actors to save the day for cinema. Having said that,the Oscar winner and Cruise have always shared a pleasant camaraderie as seen through their public appearances.
