Meanwhile, Cavill has been attached to a live-action Warhammer 40K project, set up at Amazon Prime Video. The actor hasn’t shied away from voicing his love for the series, but that project also might be in limbo following a new update. The Warhammer 40K project is reportedly facing contractual issues and here is everything you need to know about it.

Henry Cavill’s Warhammer 40K Project in Trouble After Reported Contract Woes

A cinematic universe based on the Warhammer 40K game produced by Games Workshop was first announced to be in development at Amazon MGM Studios in 2022. Henry Cavill was announced to be attached as the star and executive producer of the series.

Almost two years later, development on the series has stalled and according to a report from Collider, Amazon could lose rights to the wargames. The report revealed that the project would only move forward if Amazon and Games Workshop settled upon common creative guidelines.

The initial agreement reportedly gave one year for the two parties to hash out the details of the creative guidelines. However, that period is supposed to end in December 2024, meaning there are less than five months left for Amazon to finalize the details and save the project from obscurity.

Cavill had a disappointing exit from Netflix’s The Witcher following the show’s diversion from the source material. Similarly, he had to humiliatingly vacate the role of Superman just months after announcing his return to the DCEU. As a result, Cavill could face another humiliation with another one of his passion projects failing to get off the ground.

Henry Cavill has been vocal about his love for the Warhammer 40K game. During an interview with Josh Horowitz, Cavill shared his affection for the game. At the same time, the actor shed some light on the personal significance the game holds for him. He said:

It is the greatest privilege of my professional career to have this opportunity. I can’t say too much, again, it’s early days still. But to have this opportunity to bring it to screen, and be at the tiller so it can be faithful, is key to me.

Meanwhile, Cavill also added that it was a great honor for him to bring the cinematic universe to life, and such an opportunity was something he had dreamed of since becoming an actor.

Ultimately, it is evident that Cavill is personally attached to the upcoming project. As a result, if the project were to slip away from him due to contractual disputes, it would be another embarrassing moment for the actor. Cavill is also attached to the reboot of the Highlander series.
