James Gunn will soon be launching his version of the DC Universe with David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, and with this will come along multiple other characters that were previously either left in the dark or left unexplored. One of these widely speculated characters includes Lobo as well, the villain widely rumored to be embodied by Jason Momoa.

While Momoa has been vocal about his heartiest desire to play this unhinged interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter, nothing has been confirmed about even the character’s debut in this respective rebooted super-verse. But this villain is actually so iconic with some truly scary powers that seeing him face Corenswet’s Man of Steel is all we want to see after this.

Lobo is Scarier Than Fans’ Wildest Imaginations

Of all the comic book characters in comics, perhaps none holds as scary powers as Lobo. An intergalactic bounty hunter, he is said to have single-handedly brought an end to his entire race with an army of scorpions — just for fun. This, in turn, made him immortal, since no one else besides his own species can annihilate him, as per the comics.

According to an in-depth analysis of the anti-hero by @legendary.genesis on Instagram, the Master Frag is actually “the most feared intergalactic bounty hunter.” If anything, when he was at the peak of his power, he “was feared across galaxies” — so much so that even the heroic Justice League didn’t dare to put up a fight against him.

Then there are his powers, which include being able to “track his targets across universes from a scent” and even his ability to “regenerate from a drop of blood within seconds.” Adding to this is his tremendous strength, through which he has even boasted of knocking and killing the Man of Steel merely “out of boredom.”

While his immunity to telepathy and mind control is one thing, Mister Machete’s strongest trait includes his intellect and willpower, which is notably “strong enough to overpower Green Lanterns.” If that wasn’t enough, he is said to be able to even “calculate the weaknesses of outer-dimensional enemies to destroy them.”

As per what @legendary.genesis concluded while sharing and explaining the terrifying details of this fearless mercenary:

Lobo is the most broken villain in DC. […] With his Red Lantern ring, he once killed the entire DC Universe and then punched and killed DC’s comic editor and his own writer.

Additionally, as per how creators Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen designed him in the comics, this respective anti-hero is such a rebellious mercenary that he “is not even allowed in heaven or hell because the gods cannot control him.” So, basically, if looking at it from the comics’ perspective, pretty much no one can control or put an end to the Bo.

All of this being said, it would be truly interesting to see him face off against David Corenswet‘s Big Blue Boy Scout. And that just might be possible if Momoa gets the green light for playing this big baddie.

Jason Momoa Would be the Ultimate Match for Lobo

Although his widely commended run as Aquaman has come to an end, Jason Momoa isn’t hesitating to let know his future plans and desires in this respective superhero-verse. And these desires include him seriously eyeing his dream character, the Biggest Bastich of the Universe, as his next big role in Gunn’s rebooted saga.

Then there are all the rumors from industry insiders of how Momoa may make his debut as the chain-smoking mercenary in the forthcoming film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (via CBR). However, these reports haven’t been admitted to or denied by the studios, so nothing can be said for sure about Momoa’s future as this respective anti-hero.

At the same time, if he does get cast in the role, then it would be nothing short of epic. Not only does Momoa’s bulky physique match perfectly with that of the mercenary, but even his appearance and features make him the top candidate to bring this respective character to the screen.

All of this being put out there, we’re sure James Gunn knows what we fans really want from his rebooted universe, and hopefully, he’ll be able to deliver perfectly to our expectations.

Superman hits the screens on the 26th July, 2025.
