Throughout the time he got to play Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jonathan Majors did a beyond-spectacular job, that’s for sure. Irrespective of whatever variant he had to embody for the multiversal saga, the actor did such an amazing job that fans couldn’t help but want to see more of the character in the forthcoming future.

But then legal troubles got hold of Majors, and it seems like, with his firing, the supervillain has been fired from the super-verse as well. This comes after Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was recently asked to comment on the character’s future in the MCU, and he explicitly refused to even talk about Kang’s future in the franchise.

Kevin Feige Shuts Down All Hope for Jonathan Majors’ Kang’s Return

During a recent interview with Screen Rant Plus, the president of Marvel Studios was directly asked to address if Marvel’s Master of Time would continue to play a villain in any of the upcoming Avengers films, since Avengers 5, which has now been renamed to Avengers: Doomsday, was previously named Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

To this, Kevin Feige had the most nonchalant response as he said:

Do you know, I’ve done a number of interviews in the last couple of days and you’re the first person to- I give you credit for just outright asking the question. And I’ll give myself credit for trying to evade it and avoid it entirely.

Needless to say, this response says it all. Although heartbreaking it may seem, judging from Feige unaffectedly dodging the question like that, it sounds like, with Jonathan Majors‘ end of tenure in this respective superhero-verse following his legal troubles, Marvel has decided to put The Conqueror in the backseat for now as well.

That being said, despite all the hard work he showed and the hearts he won from 2021 through Loki season one down till 2023 in Loki season 2, Majors’ Kang may not be given another chance. Instead, stepping in his shoes will notably be Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom, who is expected to be the big bad of the cinematic universe’s projects going forward.

All of this being put out there, Majors’ fans really need to let out all their hopes of prospectively seeing his Conqueror return to the saga.

Of course, Feige just deciding to put off the character this way isn’t sitting well with fans. While recasting the character, simply, was indeed an option for him to turn to instead of just slamming the supervillain’s arc, it just may not have worked as perfectly since a lot of fans had already developed a soft spot for Majors as Nathaniel Richards.

Nonetheless, fans’ disappointment at Marvel directly deciding on just scrapping Kang for Doom and letting all those loose ends hang without doing anything about them is inevitable. Taking to X, here’s how those fans are reacting to this exclusive response from Marvel Studios’ president:

Well, the cat is finally out of the bag now, and Feige’s reaction confirms, for now, that it’s better not to hope to see Majors in character anytime soon. That being said, even with all their disappointments, it seems like fans will have to make do with having Doom play the ultimate big bad β€” unless Marvel decides to further twist things a bit.

Meanwhile, Avengers 5 aka Avengers: Doomsday is set for a release date of May 1, 2026.
