Actors spend time, effort, and a lot of energy during shooting, some dedicated ones are known to go too far to achieve the perfect shot. Therefore, injuries on set are common, even for talented and seasoned actors.
A similar incident occurred with actress Blake Lively, who during a challenging scene ended up injuring her foot. The alluring actress recounted a bizarre tale in which during a shoot she hurt her foot and then almost ended up losing it due to compromised healthcare.
Blake Lively in a prickly situation
During the filming of the 2008 comedy-drama film, The Sisterhood of Travelling Pants 2, a rather unfortunate incident happened with the lead actress Blake Lively. Lively portrayed the role of Bridget Vreeland in the movie, an aspiring archaeologist.
In an interview with David Letterman, she recalls the incident when she almost ended up loosing her foot. It happened when for a scene the lead actresses had to jump off a cliff in Greece, and the crew assured them that the bottom was cleared. Unfortunately for Lively, she encountered something sharp.
We jumped off and I ended up stepping on a sea urchin, even though they cleared the bottom.
It turned out to be a sea urchin, and her foot was badly stabbed with sharp needles so she needed urgent care. The staff called for a doctor but they didn’t have proper medical equipment, and that is when the situation took a weird turn.
He said do you wanna see if there’s a steak knife next door and I can finish?
The ‘doctor’ on call asked her if he could bring a steak knife to take out the forty-two needles stuck in her foot, which horrified the actor. Alas, it did not stop there. The punchline was that he wasn’t even a proper medic, but a chiropractor who had no expertise in the area.
I found out later that he was just a chiropractor. He was not actually a certified doctor.
Thankfully the situation was salvaged and the actress’ foot was saved due to the steak knife. She recovered and shooting continued, but this memory became a hilarious story for the Gossip Girl actress.

The tense incident became a fond memory for the actress later on, as she recalls enjoying the shooting of the movie. Though it was a close call and she could end up losing her dreams to a sea urchin, she now jokes about the scenario.

She playfully told Letterman how due to her injured foot she is seen hopping a lot in the movie, which looks weird, so she ‘added the claps’. No wonder fans love her sense of humor since the actress did indeed turn the situation around to make a joke about herself.
The Sisterhood of Travelling Pants 2 is a brilliant movie about friendship, familial bonds, and the challenges we face in life. Ironically, Lively faced one of her biggest challenges during the shooting of the film. But just like her onscreen character Bridget, she also managed to chin up and brave the situation.
