Since Gol D. Roger’s iconic speech before his execution, the pirating world has seen a revolution. Becoming a professional pirate is what everyone wanted. Everyone was grasped by the One Piece fever. But what is the ‘One Piece’? A Reddit user came up with the theory that the One Piece is the world itself. There are countless theories about the treasure being the world, but this one is a bit upside down than others.
According to the theorist, Laugh Tale has a rock slab that is put upside down. It signifies that it is the pedestal that holds the Earth upside down, much similar to Piero Manzoni’s ‘Le Socle du Monde’ which means ‘Base of the World.’ Eiichiro Oda, taking inspiration from history, arts, science, etc., is nothing new. So, it might be another one of his geniuses that fools the audience into thinking One Piece is related to typical treasure.
Watching JoyBoy leave the greatest treasure in an upside-down manner made the Roger Pirates burst out laughing. Eight hundred years ago, he might have wished more people to sail to the sea to know more about the world. When somebody reaches Laugh Tale, they will see the world itself is the One Piece. There is no other treasure better than it. Moreover, Whitebeard also confirmed the One Piece to be materialistic and not fictitious.
Gol D. Roger’s Laugh Might Have Hinted At The Upside Down Theory
Most fans thought Gol D. Roger found something funny in Laugh Tale, but it is not entirely true. He shared a mutual feeling with JoyBoy and found the ‘Base of the World’ concept funny. Pirates who are expecting gold and silver would not find it funny. It may be one of the reasons why people who want to explore have a greater chance to reach Laugh Tale instead of those who seek wealth.
Gol D. Roger wishing to be born during the same time as JoyBoy might also have some deeper meaning. JoyBoy is believed to be the first pirate ever, so his joy of exploring the seas was greater than anyone else. So, Roger might have wanted to sail with him to feel that joy and explore the true ‘One Piece.’ The plinth left on Laugh Tale could also be a poneglyph since it has sustained for so long.
The four Road Poneglyphs could also point towards that plinth, which seemingly is on Laugh Tale. The plinth could also be the ultimate information about the Void Century. The upside-down theory is pretty viable, but everything real and unreal depends on Eiichiro Oda.
