The journey to get Bloodborne onto PC has been very long and filled with both hope and frustration for fans. The game, which is often considered a masterpiece by many, has remained exclusive to the PlayStation 4 ever since its release nine years ago.

Despite the constant calls for a PC port or a PS5 remaster, Sony has remained silent on the matter. However, recent developments have made some players happy and hopeful. Thanks to the work of the ShadPS4 emulator team, the game running on a PC might soon be a reality.

Emulated Bloodborne Leads to Hope for PC Gamers

The PlayStation 4 emulator, ShadPS4, has been gaining attention lately, particularly with its progress in being able to get Bloodborne running on a PC. Though PS4 emulation is still in its early stages, the team behind the emulator has managed to achieve what many thought was impossible.

Just a month ago, the emulator could only display the title screen of the game. Now, it’s capable of showing 3D graphics and rendering the first few moments of the game, a major leap forward in such a short time. Given this massive improvement, some fans are hopeful that the entire game could be running at 4k60fps on a PC by next year.

Running the game on a PS4 emulator is no small feat. The PS4 has complex hardware, and emulating its games on a PC requires immense technical expertise, not to mention hardware and processing power.

Even though the game isn’t fully playable yet, the progress made so far has been pretty impressive. The game’s start menu now displays correctly, with the right color balance and visual clarity, unlike before, when it was barely recognizable. This is definitely a significant milestone for the modding team as well as for fans eager to see Bloodborne on PC.

While it currently runs at only a 15-fps average and is far from perfect, the progress made in just a month suggests that the team is on the right track.

Sony’s Silence Is a Missed Opportunity

While the ShadPS4 team works tirelessly to bring the game to PC, Sony remains silent on the matter. Despite the game’s massive success, critical acclaim, and demand from fans, the publisher has yet to acknowledge the need for a remaster, remake, or even a simple PC port.

This is particularly baffling given the success of FromSoftware’s other games, such as Elden Ring most recently, which have all been released on multiple platforms, including PC.

Sony has itself released plenty of their first-party games on PC as part of their broader exclusive strategy, but for whatever reason, Bloodborne goes unnoticed.

The game’s technical state is another reason for the push from fans. Unlike many other PS4 games, the game has not received any enhancements for the PlayStation 5. It still runs at a less-than-perfect 30fps and a 1080p resolution.

FromSoftware has expressed interest in remastering or bringing the game to PC. However, they do not have the final say in the matter, as Sony owns the IP and publishing rights to the game.

This means that any decision to port the game to PC ultimately lies with the publisher. Unfortunately, its reluctance to address the issue has left fans in the dark and wondering.
