After escaping from Cassandra Nova’s lair in the void, Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine encounter another Deadpool variant, Nicepool. It is this handsome version of Reynolds who informs them of the presence of a Deadpool Corps. Interestingly, the Green Lantern actor was not credited for the role in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Fans were initially confused when they saw the name Gordon Reynolds in the credits. However, those who have been following Reynolds for some time recognize the name as the imaginary rude twin brother of the actor. The character first appeared in a GQ interview, when Reynolds was named the ‘Man of the Year’. The roast video even featured a brief appearance from Jake Gyllenhaal.

Gordon Reynolds makes some disparaging comments about the real Reynolds in the video. The character was an instant hit and returned for a few more fun segments. Notably, the character was the opposite of what people perceive Ryan Reynolds to be. The nature of this twin brother adds another layer of comedy when he is credited as the man behind Nicepool.

Nicepool is the kindest among the Deadpool Corps and the only one without a healing factor. He’s brutally killed off when Deadpool uses him as a human shield, but he makes quite the impression before Wade Wilson steals his Golden Desert Eagle. Making Gordon play Nicepool was a kind of revenge that Ryan Reynolds exacted on his rude fictional twin.

During the GQ interview in 2016, Gordon Reynolds didn’t mince his words when he asked Ryan Reynolds, “Why can’t you be like other actors, good ones?”. The imaginary twin also asked whether the Free Guy actor ever saw his kids. In 2018, the duo once again appeared for another interview as a part of promoting Reynolds’ Aviation Gin.

When the topic of Deadpool 2 surfaced, the rude Reynolds twin shared, “I was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 I-Don’t-Give-a-Sh*t.” While he had some great words of appreciation for Aviation Gin, he quipped, “Roughly how many celebrities passed before they found you?”. The Adam Project actor stormed off this interview after his “twin’s” questions irritated him.

Besides Gordon, the Deadpool Corps cast featured some interesting names. Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, voiced Ladypool while their children, Inez Reynolds and Olin Reynolds, portrayed Kidpool and Babypool respectively. Nathan Fillion played Headpool and Matthew McConaughey voiced Cowboypool. Peggy the Dog was Dogpool, stunt performer Alex Kyshkovych was Canadapool, and Wrexham A.F.C.’s Paul Mullin was Welshpool.
