A mere mention of Jackie Chan’s name is enough to send fans crazy. The Hong Kong born star is acting royalty after all. Not many can match the love he has amassed from his fandom over the years. That is why not many studios would reject the opportunity to get associated with him.
In spite of his pull, there is one project he is a part of which isn’t finding takers. The Rush Hour trilogy has been one of the most successful in the genre, giving fans many laughs along the road. But it seems that the proposed sequel to the trilogy is not likely to get off the ground.

Fans’ wait for Rush Hour 4 has went on without a break. With Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker leading the franchise, it has went on to take the status of a cult classic, managing to give fans a laugh time and again. No wonder the franchise has almost made a whopping $500 million dollar profit on an approximate budget of $250 million.
Yet, in spite of all the good memories, a sequel hasn’t materialized. And not for the want of ideas. As it happens, director Brett Ratner has had an idea in his head for long. He has even taken the project to many studios. But without any success.
Brett Ratner’s troubled history has hit Rush Hour 4’s chances
Studios have chosen to keep Rush Hour 4 a pole apart, in spite of the stellar cast on board. And the reason behind this is Brett Ratner’s history. The Hercules director might have been at the peak of his career in the early 2010s. But everything changed come 2017. He found himself at the eye of the storm after allegations of sexual abuse were made against him.
As per Los Angeles Times, as many as 6 women had accused the director of sexual misconduct, with allegations of forced oral s*x by actress Natasha Henstridge and Olivia Munn accusing him of m*******ting in front of her. No wonder he would have to face the music. The 55-year-old would be dropped by his agency. And it seems like his ‘hiatus’ hasn’t ended yet.
Fans want Rush Hour 4 without Brett Ratner
Since 2017, Brett Ratner has not been a part of any movie. And his hopes of snapping the lean patch with Rush Hour 4 doesn’t seem like going according to the plan.
‘RUSH HOUR 4’ is being pitched to multiple studios at the moment.
However, Brett Ratner has been part of the pitch as the project’s potential director & producer, despite facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct & harassment.

And it might be in no small part down to the repercussions the studio will have to face if Ratner is involved.

Fans have made their stand clear on Rush Hour 4, with a unanimous opinion about ousting The Red Dragon director from the helm. It yet remains to be seen how the situation crystallizes. With Lionsgate one of the latest studios to consider the project, Ratner might be hoping that it offers him a branch to grasp on. Only time will tell whether he was right to hope all along.
