Prior To their Divorce, Ben Affleck Hinted At Incompatibility Issues With Jennifer Lopez
Back in the day, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were the ‘It Couple’ of the early 2000s. Just like a rom-com, their love story had its rough days as they called off their engagement and reconnected more than 15 years later. They got married in 2022 and Bennifer fans got their wish come true. It seemed like a fairytale romance that seemed too good to be true, turns out it wasn’t.
After weeks of divorce rumors, the couple has now officially filed for divorce with the date of separation listed as April 26, 2024. Thus, all the red flags that were pointed out in the recent months, including them living separately (via People) and not wearing their wedding rings (via Page Six), seemed to have pretty much lined up with the current events.
Now, fans are finding out more red flags prior to their divorce that showed that the two were not getting along. Lopez did a unique project early this year with her three-part strategy of celebrating her love life with Affleck, including the new album This Is Me… Now, the companion film This Is Me… Now: A Love Story, and the documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told.
It is incredibly shocking, considering the title of the documentary, that they would separate two months after its release. As fans have pointed out, JLo was very open about his relationship with Affleck to others while Affleck did not want to sensationalize it. The Argo star talked about the differences he has with her regarding privacy and boundaries with the press and outside sources in the doc itself (via E! News). These instances certainly add up to major factors that may have factored in their separation.
JLo Is Reportedly Heartbroken Over The Divorce While Ben Affleck Feels Otherwise
After months of rumors about their separation, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have called it quits on their marriage and their relationship seems to have significantly strained. Bennifer fans are heartbroken, and JLo herself is incredibly sad about the divorce, but a source told People that she felt it was time to move on.
The source further added that Affleck has supposedly not shown any interest in continuing the marriage or making an effort to make it work. Thus, Lopez just needs to look out for herself. The source said,
Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage. He hasn’t shown any commitment or interest in making their marriage work. It’s gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself.
The Batman star was spotted in Los Angeles for the first time since the divorce filing wearing a gray T-shirt, jeans, black-tinted sunglasses, and no wedding ring (on August 20). A legal expert also told People that JLo “just wanted to get this done” and move forward regarding the divorce filing. A proper reason for their divorce and whether it was amicable is not known as of yet.
