Sea of Thieves has been a successful title for Xbox, garnering a large number of players since launch. After the game came to PlayStation 5 on April 30th this year, it topped the most-downloaded game chart on PS5 in May from the PlayStation Store in the US/Canada and EU region.

As per reports by Windows Central, received by “trusted sources,” Sea of Thieves has surpassed over a million sales on the platform since the launch. It has likely sold many more copies after the reveal of the information on the game’s sales.

The game is selling for $40 on PlayStation 5 and if one million copies are sold, Xbox has grossed more than $40 million in revenue from the game. It is important to know to know that this is without the in-game purchases so combining that will result in more higher revenue.

Ahead of the game’s launch on PS5, Rare had said that the game had surpassed 40 million players across the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. This makes it all in all a great move for Xbox with increased player numbers and revenue.

After the announcement from Xbox of the first four games going to competitor platforms, it was assumed that more games will follow suit and this seems more and more likely now. The assumption also came true.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was recently announced at the Gamescom 2024 to launch on PS5. The game will come to the platform in Spring 2025 and as per reports, the game is targeting April 2025 launch.

After the announcement, Xbox head Phil Spencer said that the decision made sense via a business perspective and it sounds like there’s more coming. There have been rumors games like Starfield and even Gears and Halo could make its way to other consoles.

Xbox has many games with a massive fan base so it would be benefit bringing the games to a more wider audience. Also, the company would surely like to repeat the success it has had with Sea of Thieves on PS5.
