Guillermo del Toro Has a Paranormal Experience
The Shape of Water director stayed in a historic hotel of the 1800s in Aberdeen when he noticed a few unsettling things. As reports suggest, the film’s producer was the first one to call it quits and abandon her room after she had a series of bizarre paranormal disturbances. Flickering lights, weird sensations, and whatnot were enough to alarm her. However, Guillermo del Toro was curious and eager to explore the space.
Del Toro had no intention of leaving a hotel with possible supernatural influence, so he did the most Del Toro thing ever and embarked on a ghost hunt. However, the atmosphere grew tense and too strange to be ignored. He shifted to a different room because “something angry and territorial” was present in the haunted space. Yet, the seasoned filmmaker was persistent because he wanted to contact the entity in the room.
Guillermo del Toro is a man of many talents, and one of them appeared to be communicating with ghosts, or at least attempting to. He stared into the mirror and listened for electronic voice phenomena (EVP) on his phone, and shared these moments with his followers.
The Pan’s Labyrinth director succeeded in crafting real-world horror and intrigue with his efforts, a skill he likely acquired through his creative pursuits.
Even after experiencing “oppressive vibes,” he remained adamant about revisiting the room and getting to the depths of the matter. Almost like he assigned himself a side quest while shooting for Frankenstein.
Del Toro’s UFO Sightings & Ongoing Shoot
The Academy Award winner reportedly encountered a UFO in 2017. He described it as poorly designed and said it moved 1,000 meters in a second. Del Toro was with a friend that night, and he insisted he was sober during the sighting. The renowned director later disclosed this to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Went from 1,000 meters away [to much closer] in less than a second — and it was so crappy. It was a flying saucer, so clichéd, with lights [blinking]. It’s so sad: I wish I could reveal they’re not what you think they are. They are what you think they are. And the fear we felt was so primal. I have never been that scared in my life. We jumped in the car, drove really fast. It was following us, and then I looked back and it was gone.”
Before this incident, he allegedly experienced other paranormal activities. Strange phenomena seemed to follow Guillermo del Toro, but as long as he used them as inspiration for his movies, his fans remained satisfied.
Despite the terror, the production of Frankenstein, starring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, proceeded. The star-studded project promised a cinematic experience as chilling as the events during its shoot.
