Gege Akutami Has Officially F**ked up If a Jujutsu Kaisen Theory is True: Yuta and Megumi Could’ve Broken the Prison Realm Any Time They Wanted

SUMMARY

  • Mahoraga's cursed technique is Adaptation through which it an adapt to any attack or bring down any defense.
  • Megumi was capable of summoning Mahoraga, but Sukuna took control over his body.
  • Thus, Yuta could have copied Megumi's technique to summon Mahoraga and free Gojo from the Prison Realm.

Satoru Gojo, arguably the most popular character of Jujutsu Kaisen, was sealed off by Kenjaku (pseudo-Geto) at the onset of the Culling Game arc. This move by Gege Akutami was considered extremely controversial at the time (that is before he decided to get rid of the character entirely.

Sealing Gojo gave the antagonists the major boost they needed, as the strongest sorcerer was no longer there to save the day. In the aftermath, several central characters got killed, and Gege Akutami proved why he is friends with Hajime Isayama, the author of Attack on Titan. However, a fan theory suggests that it was entirely possible to free Gojo far earlier, which could have saved everyone.

Mahoraga Could Have Been Central in Freeing Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen

Before you get to how Gojo could have been free, you first need to understand the sole creature capable of doing the impossible, Mahoraga. Mahoraga is the most powerful shinigami of the Ten Shadows Technique and is extremely difficult to tame. However, one user was able to summon him, and that is Megumi.

Megumi summoned Mahoraga as a last resort against Sukuna, and the shikigami was able to compete physically with the King of Curses. The most notable power of Mahoraga is ‘Adaptation.’ It enables the shikigami to adapt to any and all phenomena. If the Divine General is hit by an attack, its wheels turn until Mahoraga can counter it. It can also make the shikigami resistant or immune to attacks if they are used post-adaptation.

In fact, when Sukuna took over Megumi’s body and summoned Mahoraga, he used it heavily against Satoru Gojo. Mahoraga even adapted to Gojo’s domain before being disintegrated by Hollow Purple. Still, Mahoraga had given Sukuna enough advantage to carry through his plan. If Mahoraga can adapt to almost anything, it could have also been used to open the Prison Realm that Gojo was trapped in.

The Prison Realm is a special-grade cursed object, but it was ultimately destroyed by Hana Kurusu. Being an extremely powerful sorcerer, she opened the back gate of the Prison Realm by using her Angel’s Jacob’s Ladder Cursed Technique. But what if Mahoraga was given a chance at it? Since its special power is adaptation, the shikigami could have figured out a way by turning its wheels and adapting to the barrier. But with Megumi already losing control to Sukuna over his body, who could’ve summoned Mahoraga?

According to a fan theory, Mahoraga could have been summoned in order to free Gojo. Due to the absence of Megumi, the usage of the shikigami was never discussed, as he was the only one able to summon and control the Divine General. However, there is one more person (other than Sukuna) who might have been able to summon Mahoraga.

Yuta Okkotsu, a special-grade sorcerer, has the innate technique of ‘Copy.’ While connected to Rika, he can copy and use any innate technique. So far, he has replicated Inumaki’s Cursed Speech and even used Takako’s ability to manipulate the sky. It might have been entirely possible for Yuta to copy Megumi’s Ten Shadows Technique to summon Mahoraga and order it to open the Prison Realm.

While this seems like a far-fetched theory, it is also a glaring loophole in Jujutsu Kaisen. Rather than waiting for the plot device, Kurusu, to open the Prison Realm, Yuta could have done it himself. But then again, Gege Akutami always wanted to get rid of Gojo, and the Prison Realm was the perfect opportunity to do so.
