Ahsoka Star Natasha Liu Bordizzo Provides Update on Season 2
Ahsoka premiered in August 2023, with the series starring Rosario Dawson in the titular role. Actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo appears as Sabine Wren, who becomes the Jedi Padawan of Ahsoka, while the two search for Ezra Bridger. The first season finale left the master and apprentice stranded in a different galaxy, ending on a cliffhanger.
The series was renewed for a second installment in January 2024, with creator Dave Filoni announced to be working on new episodes. Bordizzo recently appeared at Dragon Con 2024, where she was asked about returning to the convention next year. However, the actress expressed doubts about returning, hinting that she would be busy filming Ahsoka season 2 at the time.
Furthermore, Bordizzo revealed that filming for the second season is expected to take place after the upcoming film, The Mandalorian & Grogu wraps production. The Jon Favreau-directed movie is reportedly scheduled to conclude filming sometime in late 2024.
Other reports hinted that the project will continue filming until Spring/Summer 2025. Therefore, the second season of Ahsoka wouldn’t start filming until after the conclusion of The Mandalorian & Grogu‘s production. As a result, fans will likely have to wait until 2026 for the second installment to be released.
Star Wars Fans Unhappy With Ahsoka Season 2 Taking So Long to Arrive
Bordizzo’s update implied that fans will have to wait for almost two more years for Ahsoka season 2 to arrive and resolve some of the burning questions left in the season 1 finale. As a result, Star Wars fans are extremely unhappy with the long wait between seasons.

As the tweets suggest, fans of the galaxy far, far away are clearly not pleased with the delayed production timeline for season 2. Fans noted how the series will likely return with its sophomore outing in 2026, at the earliest, with three years having passed since the first installment premiered.
However, fans might not have to wait that long as a report from Production Weekly suggested that Ahsoka season 2 was expected to start filming in late 2024. Nonetheless, the second season could take quite some time to produce considering Dave Filoni‘s involvement with the The Mandalorian & Grogu film as a co-writer and producer.
