Why is Chris Pratt such a controversial figure?
Not many actors can avoid the scrutiny that comes with fame, and The Tomorrow War actor is no different. However, Pratt has been embroiled in a fair few controversies since his rise to fame.
Pratt started off his career as a beloved, goofy actor, but the bloom seemed to come off the rose quickly. Some of it was the result of his own doing, such as when he posted that he was giving his elderly cat up for adoption all the way back in 2011.
The actor invited fresh scrutiny for his alleged involvement with Hillsong Church, which has an ill-reputation for its anti-LGBTQ+ stance. The rumors started swirling in 2019 when Pratt and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, allegedly attended the church. It got to the point that even Elliot Page had to call him out publicly on Twitter.
Pratt denied having any association with the church, stating he attended a different church. He then faced more backlash for comparing his divorce with the plight of the LGBTQ+ community.
Another major scandal was when the actor allegedly threw shade at his ex-wife, Anna Faris. After Schwarzenegger gave birth to their daughter in 2021, he posted a tribute to her. His comment thanking her for giving birth to “a gorgeous, healthy daughter” did not sit well with his followers, since Faris gave birth to their son, Jack, prematurely.
