The character of James Bond has been dutifully portrayed on television and theater screens for the past 65 years. With iconic actors taking up the role and retiring from the franchise, Bond is a legacy that reintroduces itself with the generation.
With the modern world being much more than movies, James Bond is also coming up with its very own spy video game. IO Interactive, the developers of the Hitman franchise have decided to helm the project and there are some breadcrumbs that were revealed to the world about the upcoming James Bond game.
Project 007 Will Be Closer To Daniel Craig’s James Bond
With different actors portraying the iconic role, there were bound to be several differences between the versions of Bond. From being suave and gentlemanly to being a Bond that breaks his moral compass for the greater good, the world has seen several iterations of Bond over the years.
The most recent actor to retire from the James Bond franchise was Daniel Craig. With his on-screen death in the 2021 movie No Time to Die, Craig announced his retirement but it seems that the franchise isn’t done with him. The CEO of IO Interactive Hakan Abran revealed to Edge (via GamesRadar) that their upcoming James Bond game, titled Project 007 is the “ultimate spycraft fantasy!”
“The few other breadcrumbs we’re able to pick up in the office suggest a tone closer to Daniel Craig than Roger Moore, and perhaps a more scripted experience than Hitman’s freeform jaunts”
The magazine further continues,
“It’s been pitched as ‘the ultimate spycraft fantasy,’ which suggests gadgets – and perhaps a step away from the murderous objectives of Agent 47,”
IO Interactive has been known to create the iconic 2021 game, Hitman 3 which received worldwide fame for its unique gameplay and stealthy (and often not so stealthy) mechanics. Project 007 is still a few years away from release but the world will surely love the James Bond game.
Project 007 Will Include A Whole Different James Bond
In a separate interview with IGN back in April, Hakan Abran revealed that Project 007 will be inspired by the whole generation of James Bond and that he won’t be based on any one actor and his rendition of the 007 Agent.
“Every Bond kind of defines a generation and it’s amazing how they keep reinventing themselves over so many years. So, we’re not only inspired by one movie, or games and whatnot. We’re inspired by the whole thing, and just sucking things into us to make an original Bond, an original story, but that is absolutely true and recognizable in the values there is in Bond.”
As far as the rumors are concerned, Project 007 will be released for PlayStation 4 (and hopefully 5), Xbox One, and PC with an unconfirmed release date for the video game.
