Anastasia Steele is an alluring and beautiful character played by Dakota Johnson in the Fifty Shades franchise. However, portraying the role comes with many challenges to the actress, as it gives people a free license to judge her.
MPAA gave the film an R-rating because it consists of strong sexual content and graphic nudity with some unusual behavior. The Fifty Shades has many fans. Yet Johnson’s starring movie role faced a lot of criticism for being too boring.
Fans Found Dakota Johnson’s Biggest Role Boring
In an interview with Vogue Spain (via Refinery), Dakota Johnson admitted that she had to face downsides after taking on the iconic role. She said:
“People feeling the need not only to judge everyone all the time but also to pronounce themselves on it, it’s extremely boring. A waste of energy and time.”
The actress also revealed to the outlet (as for what she wants to do next) that her “interests are very specific,“ and she “wants to see certain women acting on screen and drawing attention to some particular issues.”
Despite all the criticism, she is not at all ungrateful for the role that shot her to stardom. The Hollywood actress once told Glamor U.K. that starring as Anastasia Steele is what she wanted to do exactly. She told:
“[The Fifty Shades franchise] is not going to be my swan song. It has put my life on a path that I didn’t plan to go down, but I do feel proud of it. And the films have allowed me to do so many different projects and travel so much. In the end, Fifty Shades has plopped me in a world that I really wanted to be in.”
Now, Johnson is ready to ride on a superhero journey with her titular role as Cassandra Webb in Madame Web.
