Before the release of Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness, when Benedict Cumberbatch spoke to Reader’s Digest, he shared several tidbits about his life. The 47-year-old actor stated that he used to teach English to Tibetan monks in an Indian Monastery before making it big in Hollywood.

According to Cumberbatch, it was during his time in the Indian Monastery that he used to meditate a lot. When the Imitation Game actor was asked if meditation helped him be better in his art, he replied that it changed his life.

“Yes, but not only that. It has helped me become a better person. It has shown me how to better be in the here and now; how to completely immerse myself in my body so I’m not distracted by the hustle and bustle of everyday life, or controlled by my own thoughts.”

Benedict Cumberbatch also shared that he has found peace in life and has left behind his days of adrenaline rush. Earlier he loved to do sports like sky-diving, deep-sea diving, or motorcycle riding which gave him a rush but lately, he is more of a family man. He also added that meditation helps him to focus more on his roles which has been very useful in his career.
