The actress is known as the action queen of the industry who has done a wide range of action movies in her career. The gorgeous diva is known for strong and courageous personality, which can be seen in her action thrill movies. However, she surprised her fans by doing dangerous stunts without body doubles.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith’s fame showed her fearless side in the films like Salt, where she played the role of a CIA agent. The actress did some jaw-dropping stunts in the film which would have even made some male actors gasp in shock.
Angelina Jolie performed gruesome stunts in Salt
In the 2010 film Salt, Jolie plays the character of Evelyn Salt, a woman accused of being a Russian sleeper agent. Hence she flees to prove her innocence. In the movie, there were numerous chase and action scenes. For those scenes, the actress mostly did all her stunts on her own, including a very dangerous one where she had to run away from people following her. Jolie jumped from a bridge onto a truck, then jumped on another truck, and one more. Finally, she stole a motorcycle and escaped from the scene.
Jolie did the thrilling and dangerous stunt herself, despite having the option of stunt doubles at her disposal. She trained and practiced diligently till she was ready to shoot the scene.
Stunt coordinator Simon Crane told the Los Angeles Times,
“[Jolie is] absolutely fearless when it comes to high places. … You can use her confidence with heights to put her in all kinds of dicey situations and know that she’s going to be convincing pulling it off.”
Salt was an action-thriller film directed by Phillip Noyce, which grossed $293 million worldwide.
Angelina Jolie did her stunts in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
Salt was not the first action movie in which Angelina Jolie has done stunts, she has been doing them for years. The first action movie of the actress was Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, where she played the lead role. The actress got numerous bruise marks due to the dangerous action scenes in the film.
Speaking to Cinema.com, director Simon West shared his thoughts,
“Angelina was doing triple back flips on the set. She was doing the bungee jumps from 50 feet up in the air. She was laughing. The stunt doubles were clinging to their safety ropes. In one scene where Lara surfs through the air on a thin log, her stunt double refused to do it. Angie said ‘No problem’. Within a week, she was going, ‘I love it! Let’s go again!’”
Some of the action films the actress include The Tourist, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Wanted, and more. Jolie will give voiceover in Kung Fu Panda 4, which will release in 2024.
