In the Shibuya Incident Arc of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji faces tough battles, especially against the troublesome villain Mahito. Mahito’s actions create big challenges for Yuji. Even though Mahito isn’t connected to the Avengers, the manga creator, Gege Akutami already stated that he wanted Mahito to be like Thanos of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Gege Akutami highlighted Mahito’s similarity to Thanos by making him kill main characters. But later, Akutami changed Mahito to resemble another Marvel character, the Hulk, during a fight against Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen.

In these confrontations, Yuji goes through tough beatings by Mahito, bringing to mind intense scenes like those in the first Avengers movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Mahito, despite taking hits in the first season, is causing a lot of chaos in the Shibuya Incident Arc. He played a big part in killing Nanami and hurting Nobara. After witnessing the power of the cursed king Sukuna, Yuji had to see his friend Nobara get hurt by Mahito. This left her out of the fight and in bad shape.

What’s strange is Yuji’s reaction. Instead of getting angry right away, he sort of shut down after this traumatic event. Mahito then gives him a really harsh beating, similar to how the Hulk smashes in the Marvel movies.

A fan on Twitter (@kzkuii) pointed out that the scene where the villain Mahito defeats Yuji in Jujutsu Kaisen is similar to a moment in the Marvel Avengers movie. It’s like when Hulk beats Loki in the first Avengers movie.

In the first Avengers movie, the Hulk had a great moment when he defeated Loki. Since then, Bruce Banner and the Hulk have made a deal to share a body. Fans don’t know where the Hulk will show up next after appearing in She-Hulk, but Banner has made his mark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

This might be why Akutami created a scene in Jujutsu Kaisen resembling the Hulk, giving fans a glimpse of the Hulk’s influence in the series, much like Banner in the MCU.

In Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season, the Shibuya Incident Arc is reaching a climax with just a few episodes remaining. In the last episode, Yuji Itadori, aided by his “brother” Todo, is starting to gain the upper hand in the ongoing battle. The upcoming episode promises new fight scenes, and there’s anticipation that Mahito, the troublesome villain, might face his final defeat in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 20 Unveils the Crucial Role of Todo

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 20 showed how important Todo is for Yuji. Todo’s words and support motivated Yuji, and Yuji’s presence encouraged Todo to push his limits.

As we move into the Culling Game arc, it’s clear that what happened in Shibuya affected Yuji deeply, and he’s repressing his trauma. However, for now, Todo gave him the strength to fight.

In the upcoming episode, we’ll see Mahito’s evolution. It’s expected to be the final battle, likely ending with the “Yuji Chasing Mahito” scene. If Mappa keeps up this pace, Season 2 might cover the entire Shibuya Arc.
