After just releasing three chapters, Kagurabachi has suddenly become a manga industry star because of its epic storyline, and powerful characters. The series has become a social media sensation because of the real enthusiasm shown by fans for this new Shonen series. Another factor that has played a significant role in Kagurabachi sparking enormous interest is the upcoming endings of many epic anime series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Black Clover. After only two chapters, Kagurabachi was among the top five manga on Manga Plus, Shueisha’s official manga reading app.
The plot centers around the character Chihiro Rokuhira, the son of a renowned blacksmith capable of manufacturing unique swords, who seeks brutal vengeance against a gang of sorcerers with the help of a magically supercharged blade crafted by his father before being killed.
Kagurabachi takes over Chainsaw Man
Takeru Hokazono is the author and illustrator of the Japanese manga series Kagurabachi. Since September 2023, it’s been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Kagurabachi attracted a lot of attention for being a part of Shonen Jump’s NEXTWAVE project, which was centered on supporting new series, but the buzz has resulted in the series’ quick expansion all over the world. Shueisha has a platform called Manga Plus where anyone can read their series, and they have a “hot list” that highlights the most popular in recent weeks, with Kagurabachi quickly overtaking My Hero Academia and now Chainsaw Man.
Surprisingly, it had previously surpassed Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen as well. The latter, on the other hand, regained popularity with the publishing of chapter 236, which represented the death of Satoru Gojo. Kagurabachi dominated social media in just one chapter, spawning numerous memes and even bogus anime promotions. This contributed to the excitement that lifted the manga to such heights, but the manga itself is to blame for the exposure it has received.
Kagurabachi Might Take Place With The Big 3
The dark and cool-looking main character of the series drew attention, but it was the story and unusual environment that sold it. Kagurabachi is a bleak revenge tale set in a future version of early twentieth-century Japan. Although the memes and anticipation around the main character Chihiro Rokuhira have helped the new Shonen series gain a lot of attention, it is thought that the series will eventually rank among the top three.
However, to get itself to that level the series needs to maintain the same hype and love from the fans by continuing the storyline with more brilliant turns and twists.
