Look Back is a 143-page one-shot webcomic by Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man. The volume was released on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ online platform on July 19, 2021. Afterward, on September 3, 2021, manga publisher Shueisha published the collected manga in a single volume.

Look Back solidified Fujimoto’s status as a manga superstar, even though he has amassed enormous popularity for Chainsaw Man and garnered praise from manga fans for his unique masterpiece, Fire Punch.

Look Back is Getting An Anime Adaptation

An anime adaption of the Look Back one-shot manga series is supposedly in the works. Publisher Shueisha, animation studios, and manga writer Tatsuki Fujimoto have not released any formal statements yet. But a domain name for a website called “http://lookback-anime.com” was just registered, raising the possibility of an anime adaptation.

Aside from the website domain, no further hints have been provided to fans. It is also possible that MAPPA will be handling the anime’s animation. Also, as the manga is one shot and only comprises 143 pages, it is unclear whether it will be adapted as a series or a movie.

However, looking at the success of Oda’s one-shot manga’s anime adaptation Monsters 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation, the adaptation of the Look Back manga seems imminent, and it is bound to get a successful reception because it carries the name of mangaka Fujimoto and a very interesting plotline that is never seen before.

The Storyline of Look Back

Look Back depicts the narrative of Ayumu Fujino, a gifted artist who is outstripped throughout her life by Kyomoto. The manga tracks the two females as they pursue careers in art, and it reveals some unexpected turns that neither artist could have predicted.
