She has been recently making headlines for her performances in the rom-com- Anyone but You and the superhero film Madame Web, which is set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.
While Madame Web has not done particularly well with the audience or critics, Anyone but You has done much better in both of these aspects. Sydney Sweeney kickstarted her career with guest roles in TV shows such as 90210, Criminal Minds, Grey’s Anatomy, and Pretty Little Liars. She has starred in movies and shows of several other genres now. For instance, Quentin Tarantino’s dramedy Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the first season of Mike White’s anthology black comedy series The White Lotus.
However, Sweeney did not get the chance to star in one of the most beloved genres of movies, namely rom-com, until recently. Although Anyone but You garnered mixed reviews from critics, it turned out to be a sleeper-hit as it grossed $170 million worldwide against a production budget of $25 million. Now that fans have seen the actress’s performance in a rom-com, they want to see more of it. Luckily, Sweeney is also interested in making more.
During BuzzFeed Celeb’s The Puppy Interview where she was promoting Madame Web, when asked which actor she would like to star with in her next rom-com, she said:
“I feel like it’d be really fun to work with Paul Mescal.”
Paul Mescal is one of the actors on the rise in Hollywood. The Irish actor caught the eyes of the audience with his performance in the series Normal People, based on Sally Rooney’s novel of the same name. He has since been impossible to ignore with his charismatic performances.

Sydney Sweeney is Not the Only Actress Interested in Working with Paul Mescal
Paul Mescal is turning out to be a movie star as Cillian Murphy said in an interview not so long ago. Mescal’s most recent project is All of Us Strangers, in which he starred alongside Fleabag star Andrew Scott. The movie gained a lot of media attention and even impressed the audience. So, it does not come as much of a surprise that the Gladiator 2 star is so much in demand. As a matter of fact, Mescal once said that he was interested in working with The Bear star Ayo Edebiri.
In an interview with Awards Watch, Ayo Edebiri also expressed her willingness to star with Mescal in a project, saying:
“Paul and I have spoken about it since because I told Paul he is very chaotic [laughs] Honestly he’s one of my favorite actors to watch, period. I actually said, “So, is someone writing a script for us now, or what?” So that’s my answer, if somebody writes us a good script.”
Surprisingly, Paul Mescal wants to work with Edbiri in a rom-com. So now, the actor has two potential actresses, namely- Sydney Sweeney and Ayo Edebiri, to star with in a rom-com.
