Actress Sydney Sweeney became a household name after she played the role of Cassie Howard in the HBO drama series Euphoria. That role helped her bag bigger opportunities in the industry, including the role of Julia Carpenter / Spider-Woman in 2024’s Madame Web, which is set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU).
Sweeney’s character in Madame Web primarily exhibits superpowers like superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, and reflexes, but Sweeney believes her Euphoria character, Cassie Howard, would easily beat Julia Carpenter / Spider-Woman in a fight. Madame Web, which also features Dakota Johnson, Celeste O’Connor, and Isabela Merced had a terrible start as critics have annihilated the movie with negative reviews. The film is expected to be a major financial loss for the studios.
Sydney Sweeney says Cassie Howard would easily beat her Madame Web character in a fight
Actress Sydney Sweeney recently appeared for The Puppy Interview with BuzzFeed and during the conversation, the actress was asked: Who would win in a fight? Cassie Howard or Cassie Web. Sweeney immediately sided with her Euphoria character,
“Oh, Cassie Howard. She would throw it out if she needed to.”
Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie Howard has been a prominent character on the HBO drama series Euphoria since 2019. Apart from this, Sweeney gained popularity for playing Olivia Mossbacher in 2021’s The White Lotus TV series. Thanks to her acting talent, Sweeney has earned several prestigious awards and nominations.
Madame Web has received poor reviews
Madame Web premiered at the Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, Los Angeles on February 12, 2024, and was released in the United States on February 14. The initial reviews from the critics have been very poor. The film got an embarrassing score of 15% from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes and 3.8/10 on IMDb. For the fans, the film was a massive letdown. Despite being in production since 2019, Madame Web couldn’t hit the mark.
As per Deadline, Madame Webb managed to bring in about $6 million on its first day, which is lower than 2023’s The Marvels. The film has been a massive disappointment for fans and has been put into the same category as Morbius (2022). As per projections, the film is expected to gross $20-25 million over its six-day opening timeframe. As for Sweeney, she has many projects lined up like Michael Mohan’s Immaculate, Michael Pearce’s Echo Valley and Ron Howard’s Eden.
