Sydney Sweeney is fresh off the success of her romantic-comedy movie Anyone but You, which crossed the $100 million mark at the global box office. The actress recently appeared in First We Feast’s YouTube series Hot Ones, where she engaged in a spicy food-eating challenge. Along the way, Sweeney also dished out several incidents from her career.
During the challenge, Sweeney discussed her role as Cassie Howard in HBO’s teen drama series Euphoria. While talking to the host, Sweeney revealed the gross details of the infamous hot tub scene from the show’s second season, which sees her puking all over the place. Sydney Sweeney Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Details of Infamous Hot Tub Scene in Euphoria
Sydney Sweeney appeared on First We Feast’s YouTube series Hot Ones, ahead of the premiere of her upcoming superhero movie Madame Web. While promoting her film, Sweeney also discussed her time on the hit HBO series Euphoria, which first shot her to fame. During the interaction, Sweeney was asked by host Sean Evans about the mechanics of throwing up on screen.
In response, Sweeney provided a detailed guide to her vomiting scene in the second season of Euphoria. The scene sees a depressed Cassie drinking in a hot tub before she starts puking uncontrollably. Sweeney revealed that for the scene director Sam Levinson wanted the vomit to be everywhere and the production team relied on a pump to execute it.
“And they had this pipe that they just taped and hid on my body. And then there was a horse bit that I had to put in my mouth. And so during that scene, they’re filling my mouth with throwup.”
Sweeney added that the pipe was edited out from the scene using CGI. Meanwhile, as soon as she opened her mouth, the vomit was shot out to make it appear as if Cassie was puking uncontrollably. However, Sweeney found the entire experience disgusting.
Sydney Sweeney Discusses Acting Technique and Journaling as Cassie
During her appearance on Hot Ones, Sweeney also discussed some of her other roles and shared some anecdotes about her acting process. Sweeney stated that she writes a journal for each one of the characters she is playing. As a result, she obtains a better understanding of her characters and it also helps with her performance.
While discussing her acting technique, Sweeney was asked which one of her character journals would make a good memoir. Sweeney responded stating that Cassie’s journal had the most potential to be a published as memoir.
“Cassie’s book is really, really cool. It’s the most developed, ’cause I’ve had so most time with her. I have two seasons of her, so she’s grown so much. And I was able to have Season 1 and Season 2 and just develop this book, so it’s really cool to see how it changes.”
Sweeney made the above comment, detailing how she felt about her role as Cassie. The actress is expected to return to the role for the third season of Euphoria, which will likely premiere sometime in 2025. Meanwhile, Sweeney will return to the big screen in the role of Julia Cornwall / Spider-Woman, in Madame Web, which opens in theaters on February 14, 2024.
